What Did I Do?!

Cora convincingly pretended to be asleep when Ace softly called her name trying to get her to wake up. Then he laughed slightly and spoke with an unmistakably indulgent smile in his voice as he picked her up. 

"You just can't stay awake during movies, can you?" 

He tucked her into bed like in her dream and brushed some hair off her face. She forced herself not to move and give herself away with great effort. 

Just like before, he kissed her forehead. "Goodnight, beautiful."

Cora sat up the moment he was gone, clutching her sheets in a panic. That hadn't been a dream! Why? How? What in the world was going on right now? This had happened at least twice but she had no way of knowing if it had happened more than that. 

Ace had been acting like he was her boyfriend when he thought she didn't know. There was only one explanation for that.
