Aurora felt a strange feeling overcome her body as she thought about what else she could do. Rather than feeling angry and confused, she felt the most confidence she ever felt in her life. Positioning her hand to try it again, Aurora was sadly interrupted by a knock on her dressing room.
"Are you ready to come out, miss?" Asked one of the attendants. She saw that Madame Eloise was only with one of the young women who came in and thought to check up on the other.
Aurora stared at the door where on the other side the worker was waiting for her then looked down at the broken vase. "Not yet. I will be out in a moment," she said, rushing to pick up the pieces of the broken vase.
"Tapping into that wonderful power you have?" Came the unexpected voice of the werewolf in her head.
Aurora gasped surprised by his sudden arrival. "Can you please stop doing that? I think that you are indeed lying and might be somewhere close by watching me. How do you know what I am doing? I didn't hurt myself."
He chuckled before replying, "Any creature nearby can feel that power you have trapped inside. Do me a favor next time and burn the core of that old woman. You looked beautiful today. I wish you would let your hair flow in the wind but then every man around would be intrigued. I'm conflicted."
How could he tell her to do such a thing to Minnie but then compliment her? Wait! "You saw me today?" She questioned now realizing he had complimented her on how she looked today. He also said any creature nearby could feel her power. "Were you Seth Roberts?"
"The time for me to reveal myself to you is almost here. Till then, keep practicing tapping into your powers and try to wake up as the old you."
"Wake up how? Why does everyone keep mentioning me waking up? Hello? Not again! You can't just come and go as you please," Aurora clenched her fist becoming frustrated he only came to tell her things but never stayed to listen to her. He talked like he knew so much about her but kept everything he knew to himself.
If he wanted to save her and was nearby today, why didn't he just come and take her away? What was he waiting for?
"Is it that he can't take me away right now even if he wanted to?" Aurora softly asked herself. Everything always ended with another question instead of her getting an answer. It was frustrating that no one would just let her hear the full truth and because both sides were keeping things from her, Aurora considered both of them the same.
The sizzling sound of something burning was heard again and next to Aurora, the plant had caught fire and completely burned away with the vase, like it was never there.
'Problem solved,' she thought as she no longer needed to figure out how to clean up this mess.
At that moment, the attendant knocked on the door again since Aurora was taking so long. "Miss, your grandmother wants to see the first dress you have picked. How much longer should I tell her you will be?"
Aurora opened the door and said, "I am finished."
"Oh my, the red dress suits you perfectly."
"Too bad its beauty will be lost by my cape," Aurora muttered. Most of the dress will be covered by her cape all because she needed to hide her white hair from others at the festival.
'Cape?' Thought the attendant to herself. Was it because of the unusual hair color? She had never seen someone so young with so much white hair. All the other attendants were talking about it. "What color is the cape?"
"Pardon me?" Aurora asked, taken aback by the question. She hadn't expected anyone to ask her about the cape she wore out of the blue. "It is red. Why did you ask?"
"There is a black dress on the rack which will pair nicely with a red cape and you will be able to move around much better. I heard your sister commenting on how she wanted a dress to move around in and thought you would be the same."
"Thank you. What is your name?" Aurora found it rude not to ask what the name of the attendant was since the woman was helping her.
"Melissa, miss Hamilton."
"You can just call me Aurora. I'm not sure I'm even a Hamilton," Aurora thought the last part to herself.
"Madame Eloise won't like that-"
"She's not here to know. I won't tell you if you don't. The dress you picked is absolutely beautiful, I don't know how it missed my eyes," Aurora commented on the dress Melissa now held in her hands.
While Aurora admired the dress, Melissa admired the young woman. She felt something inside as she stared at the young Hamilton girl. She somehow felt much happier than she did before showing up for work. "You have a beautiful soul Aurora. You don't find too many people like you these days. Forgive me if I overstep any boundaries."
Aurora had asked for her name and spoke to her kindly but Aurora was still a valued customer. Melissa could not afford to offend her in any way.
"It's fine. You haven't offended me in any way. Do you mind telling my grandmother I will be out in another minute? I want to try on the black dress you just gave me."
"Absolutely! I will be right outside if you need me," Melissa stepped outside giving Aurora the privacy she needed to get changed again. She liked helping the young miss. It was a shame everyone else just kept labeling her as the child of a mistress. Melissa hoped the young lady had not heard any of the foul words coming from the other attendants who couldn't help gossiping.
