Then again, if Nick had refused, Kathy and Blanche might have asked someone else to help. And they could have ended up being the target instead of Nick.

Nick was glad that Daniel had cuffed Gemma and was taking her away before Jamie managed to get the cage door open; he wanted to have a few moments alone with the bitch. But then Jamie had pulled Nick into his arms for a fierce embrace, and Nick had forgotten about his anger for the woman who tried to kill him. Just having someone who cared about him there and soothing him helped dissipate the anger.

Kathy was injured and in need of a hospital. Nick had wanted to go with her, desperate to know she was going to be okay, but Kathy had said she would be fine. She urged him to go home and see her once he was rested. Nick was reluctant to leave her side, but his sister was insistent. She squeezed his hand and closed her eyes as she was loaded into the ambulance.
