“What?” I held in a smirk, pleased I’d been able to shock him.
“Raw? You knew he’s gay? How, I mean, he’s totally a bloke’s bloke, you know?”
I tapped the side of my nose. “We gay men have a way of spotting each other.”
“Really? Anyway, Raw’s married.”
I sighed. “I guess men of his generation had more pressure to conform and get married. Shame.” I looked over to the opposite touch-line and saw Raw pointing at various players, shouting instructions to them.
Cory laughed. “Better not let Gary hear you say that.”
I turned to Cory. “Oh?” My attention went back to the game and to Raw. “Isn’t he famous or something?”
“Raw?”
I nodded. “I’m sure I’ve heard the name before.”
“Don’t know about famous exactly but he played rugby professionally before he retired. Made a bit of splash when he came out.”
“That’s it. I remember now.”
