“I started running in college. Not that I’m anything close to your level. But it helped. And I came out about being gay, which helped a lot more. How did your mother take it when you told her?”
“My mom was surprised the first time I brought home a boy, but she’s French. Nothing much fazed her.”
“I’d really like to meet your mother sometime, Evan.”
The last of the chocolate-induced well-being abruptly vanished. There were some things Evan just wasn’t ready to share. Using his fatigue as an excuse for not answering, he stood and announced, “I think I’m going to head back up to bed, if you don’t mind. That nap I took just wasn’t enough.”
Danny looked surprised, but seemed to accept further questions wouldn’t be welcomed. “Sure, I understand.”
