Cautious for one's life

"Want some?" Pergan said as he handed some leftover roasted meat to Elijah.

Seeing no need to refuse such a meal, as the meat looked as though it had been recently roasted, Elijah accepted it without much thought.

Biting down on the crispy oily skin as the flavours of various herbs swarmed his taste buds, Elijah savoured the feeling before swallowing it down in one go.

Although they were not as good as the ones he made himself with the demonic beasts that had chased him to his death, the meal was still an acceptable treat considering their current situation.

"What's your name?" Pergan said as he attempted to lighten up the mood.

"I can't keep on calling you a stranger considering that I'm currently putting the fate of me and my clansmen in your hands". He added.
