Solving a Conflict? III

"That-" Shuri was at a loss for words.

"Then what should have I have done!? You may not have any duties beyond your whims but I do! I can't always be around. I'm a part of something bigger!" Barakiel interjected in a thunderous tone.

In contrast, Jun was a calm as he could possibly be, he had already deemed Barakiel as someone beyond salvation so he was not disturbed by his words his the slightest as he sipped his tea.

"Putting aside the fact that while I understand nobility and sacrifice, I would never give the life of my woman or my child for any cause . . ." Jun started and the married couple's faces already twisted at the hurtful truth in the spoken words.

"Do you truly believe that if you, one of the most powerful fallen angels in the world, walked into the Himejima clan compound and laid waste to it as a warning and retaliation, that they would truly start a war with Grigori?" He continued.

"With the fact that they were the ones to initiate hostilities in play, so long as you don't go all the away and leave most of them alive, no war will happen, the Shinto Gods would not get involved in such a minor conflict and the Five Principal clans would not dare start a war with Grigori without their backing." Jun laid out his analysis.

Barakiel's silence however, was his only answer.

"Nothing, to say?" Jun questioned in a harsh tone.

"You certainly had a lot to say when I was doing the job of protecting your family for you, even fixing the root of the issue though I admit, my personal dislike for some of the members of the Five Principal Clans did have a little something to do with that too." He continued.

"I'm sorry . . ." Barakiel let out in a defeated tone of voice and Shuri loathed to see her husband like so. She thought Jun was right to a certain extent but also believed there was a better way to put it, she was also to the kind of wife to enjoy seeing her husband being put down . . .

At least not in that particular way and by someone other than herself.

Jun on the other hand, had no qualms about kicking someone when they were down and since he had already decided not to harm Barakiel on account of his relationship with those associated with the fallen angel, taking his frustration out through his words seemed quite the pleasant alternative.

"Sorry for what? Your apologies are as worthless to me as your brain is too you since it seems to go completely unused." Jun's words started to move from actual criticism to plain insults and he found himself getting a little too hot. Shuri noticed as well and interjected.

"Jun-san better stop there." She said in a firm tone and while she was in her right, Jun did not appreciate the authoritative inflection in the way she spoke to him.

'Barakiel is not worth me getting riled up anyway.' He thought better of it and just clammed up again and calmly drank the rest of his tea.

"I think I've overstayed my welcome." Jun commented and got up.

He then turned to Shuri with a serious expression and said in a slightly cold tone that left her somewhat taken aback as Jun had never spoken to her in such a way.

"Never try to call me on false pretenses again Shuri-san." And before the shrine maiden could give any response or denial, saying it was not like so and that she was only trying to hit two birds with one stone and such, Jun disappeared into thin air right after saying those words.

He might have heard her excuses and let the whole thing let it slide before but Shuri's tone towards him set him off someway.

It was something he was noticing as well. Being as powerful as he currently was, while he could still hold a normal conversation, he found himself becoming more and more intolerant towards certain things.

Disrespect, when a superior tone was used towards himself, when someone acted overly hostile towards him without himself going completely out of line first, the last one set him off in particular when he considered the other party beneath him.

His wives and the other girls saw it too, even before Jun himself realized the change. Some of them felt bittersweet and the more down to earth and casual part of him slowly diminishing him but most felt that kind of attitude suited his power and status far more than his previous one.

His more extremely companion even thought him far to tolerant for someone who held nearly absolute power and commanded such an impressive host of mighty beings.

Morgan felt Jun was too laid back when others infringed on his prestige while Penthesilea thought he was not combative enough. Scathach had no particular opinion towards Jun's rulerscraft while Cleria prefered the softer him but still had no issues with the change and loved him just as much.

Jun's changes aside, even after the one that could be considered the foreign element left Shuri's shrine home, the atmosphere might have become even worse than when he left.

Barakiel was still feeling quite defeated while Shuri was reeling from Jun's sudden departure and last words while Akeno who was listening in secretly was extremely conflicted.

In the ned, despite being the one that got initially riled up or was getting close to it, Jun was still the one in a simpler mood. He accepted his relationship with the family of three would become inherently different from that moment on and moved forward.

For the mother and daughter pair however, it was not quite so easy.
