At lunch, Sue informed Rayan that she could not handle his case herself. But, she promised him to assign it to one of her most experienced attorneys. Sue thought that Rayan might argue, but he did not. He did not even talk to her about his reasons for divorce.
They spent most of the time in awkward silence. Till Rayan decided to break this silence and said, looking at his plate. “She removed all the photos and kept only yours next to her bed.”
“I am sorry, what?” Sue inquired.
Rayan looked directly into her eyes tenderly in the same old way he used to do. The same old way that used to take her breaths away and said, “Jasmine, I mean. Sue, you are the only person she trusts and loves.”
Sue felt her heart stopped for seconds. She had a mixture of feelings where happiness was the dominant one. She was thrilled to hear that her sister loved her.
“If you feel sorry for her, then why do you want to get divorced?” Sue asked.
Rayan said, “I did not say I feel sorry for her.”
