Makai and I sat at the dining room table with my parents, Doc and Da. Momma was in the kitchen finishing up dinner and I sort of wanted to go and help her with it. I was sitting so awkwardly while trying not to squirm under the scrutinizing gaze of my parents. I knew that my parents were still processing what they had heard. So were Momma, Da, and Doc for that matter. And none of them were as freaked out about it as I was. Though, I was sure that Makai was the only one that wasn't worried at all. Well, him and Doc, since I was sure that Doc was ready to move on.

"Alright everyone, dinner is ready." Momma called from the kitchen.

"I will help you bring it in." I spoke up immediately and was about to leap to my feet so that I could help her. However, I was stopped almost instantly.

"No. I will help her." Makai was already on his feet.
