The Red Alarm

The next morning, Alexis called her best friend as soon as she woke up. 

"Hey, Lexi. I thought you would call me yesterday. But I didn't get your call. I tried calling you but your cell phone was busy." Natalia complained as soon as she picked up the phone.

Alexis's eyes watered up when she heard Natalia's voice. "I am sorry. I called mom and dad and it was already late by then." For her, it had already been a year that she hadn't heard Natalia's voice and she felt like crying. 

She was missing Natalia a lot. She wanted to meet her and share all the crazy adventure stories. There were also times in the past when she had wished that Natalia would have also been with her. But she was glad that she was not because the anxiety of being stuck there forever was just too much and she wondered if Natalia could have bore it.
