Seeing Liam's hands stopping midways, Alexis looked at him and asked, "Why are you stopping? Do something fast."
Liam sadly looked into Alexis's wet eyes and whispered, "Alexis, there's nothing I can do now. He is... already dead."
"What? No." Alexis scoffed in disbelief. "He was talking to me just now."
Alexis turned her gaze to the soldier lying on her arm. A soft gasp escaped her mouth.
"Noooooo…"
The soldier was smiling but his body was already lifeless. Alexis shook him gently with some hope of waking him up but he didn't move. She checked his breath, and Liam was right, he wasn't breathing, he was already dead.
"No, no, no! Don't die on me. You can't die on me." A warm drop of tear fell down Alexis's cheeks. By the time it reached her chin, that teardrop became red after being laced with the blood that was on Alexis's face.
