Excruciating head pain forced her eyes open. She was in the cellar, but there was plenty of light and people bustled around her. She heard Eryn's voice but couldn't make out her words.
Moaning, she tried to move but everything hurt. She rolled onto her side, and her eyes locked on Dillon's cold baby blues that stared blankly into hers. Shrieking, she squirmed away.
Eryn had her. "Shhhh. It's ok. He's dead," she assured Cassie, holding her close.
"Can she walk?" Daniel shouted.
Cassie shook her head, trying to squirm further away. She needed to get as far away from the body as possible. Eryn helped her to her feet, and it was then that she noticed Randy on her other side. Daniel busied himself tearing up floorboards. She stared absently around the cellar as everything slowly came into focus. The shock of it all hit her full force, and she collapsed into Randy's waiting arms. He lifted her up and carried her to the ladder.
