I was surprised that Van would suggest such a thing considering his emotional attachment with Sarah. So I decided to listen to Van's thoughts behind his suggestion. 

"Master Wyatt, I do not know much regarding blood purity and its application but there is a reason why demigod Redfall let Sarah, his last bastard, keep his family name out of all the bastards before her.
