Nathan Yang

"Momo, there isn't anyone in here." Mu Qingqing said as she covered her nose and tried to fan the smoke and dust away.

"Big sister Mo, there is also no one in this room." Lin Jiaojiao said while holding Zhang Youji's hand.

"No one is here as well." Lilian Mo answered.

They all drifted out of the rooms that were checked and went to look at more rooms together. Some were locked but they only needed Mu Qingqing's strength to pull the doorknob and they were able to enter inside without much fuss.

Their group went into the fourth floor after checking the third floor.

It was when they were checking one of the rooms and Lilian Mo was acting as a lookout in the hallway that she felt the feeling of being watched. She looked around but saw no one.

Was it her imagination?

Her skin prickled.

No, it was not her imagination. She was indeed being watched by someone or something.

She closed in on the room where Mu Qingqing and the others were blocking the door so no one could come in.

Lilian Mo focused, her heightened senses searching for any possible enemy in the vicinity.

In the next few seconds, she could hear the clear chatter of the girls and the silence of Zhang Youji.

After a while, she heard a person's breathing. She immediately whiffed out a knife from her space and charged in the direction where she heard the sound and aimed the tip of her knife forward.

There was a soft sound of someone cursing under their breath as they leaped away but Lilian Mo managed to graze their cheek.

Drip, drop.

Two drops of red blood fell on the carpeted floor. Lilian Mo looked up. It was definitely a human. Only mutants possess dark blood.

She followed the sound of breathing again and closed her eye.

The almost soundless exhale of breath was caught by sensitive ears. Lilian Mo charged to the right and brought her knife down. Unfortunately, fighting an invisible enemy made them quite slippery so her knife slammed on the wall instead.

The sound alerted the girls and Xiao Ji.

"Careful, we have an invisible enemy." Lilian Mo warned them as she once again tried to sound out the other person.

Lin Jiaojiao was quick to follow and she erected a barrier to protect them while Lilian Mo nodded at her for her quick thinking.

Someone chuckled.

"I thought we were going to face a group of thugs or criminals. It turns out, it's just a group of teenagers." It was a male's voice.

The girls were startled when they heard it.

"Are you from the army? What do you guys want?" Lilian Mo asked but she still kept her vigilance.

"Hm. Are you Lilian Mo?"

"What do you want with my Momo?" Mu Qingqing straightened, feeling threatened.

"Your Momo? Little girl, I'm not interested in children." The invisible person materialized three meters away from them, starting from head to toe. It was a tall male wearing a military uniform. Although he looked skinny, he had the aura of a fighter and looked like someone that people should not mess with.

He wiped the blood from the wound on his cheek using his calloused thumb. Lilian Mo could see that his hands were full of scars.

No doubt, this guy must be a veteran. He looked very young though and he was able to give off the aura of danger.

"I only want to know. Are you Lilian Mo?"

Lilian Mo watched his stoic face. "If I am, what would you do, Mr. Soldier?"

He grinned. He was a mercenary, not a soldier but saying that would do more harm than good. Nathan Yang could tell that this little girl wasn't ordinary. She has some sharp senses and could even detect him when he was already invisible and doing his best to keep quiet.

The fact that she was able to wound him has earned a bit of his ire and respect. However, he was still objective and came here with a mission.

"You kids turned up at the wrong place, at the wrong time. This hotel has a solar generator and the army has plans to dismantle it and take it to the base. Their lookout saw you and thought that you were here to snatch their prize. I didn't expect the Lieutenant to be so paranoid that he would send in some of his people." Nathan Yang explained. He seemed the carefree type but it did not match with his stoic expression.

"Don't be alarmed. I am Nathan Yang, I am part of General Mo's team."

"Oh... We didn't know that there was a solar generator." Lin Jiaojiao spoke up. Is that why the army was here? It seemed true since they didn't even have electricity here and did not know how to use a generator.

Lilian Mo was a bit stunned. She did not notice that there was a solar generator when she came to the rooftop. It must be because she was too focused on her conversation with Mu Qianmo that she overlooked it.

But...although she knows how to make an electric generator work, that was due to many hours of reading and trial and error. She was still clueless about how a solar generator would operate. Besides, none of them knows how to dismantle that kind of thing and they would need tools for that. That cannot be done by a few people alone.

"The army came here for the solar generator..That's all? Hm... But you still did not answer my question, Mr. Soldier." Lilian Mo did not let her guard down, her knife was still held by her.

"What would you do if I am Lilian Mo?"
