04: Time

Klein caught himself and looked around... He was pretty sure he saw a gigan-fucking-tic typhoon heading towards Arcadia Bay, ready to destroy everything. He just looked at the screen where all his abilities were listed and he noticed [Meta Powers: Temporal Distortion Detection (A)] when he read the description of this ability he was sincerely interested.

[Meta Powers: Temporal Distortion Detection (A)]:

Normally when traveling back in time, people won't know you because theoretically, you haven't met yet. But this does not apply to those who have this ability, with this ability the user can instantly know if some temporal based abilities are being used in a radius of 100km around the user, the user can resist the memory-erasing/modifying effects of time paradoxes easily, which leads to the user be immune to memory-erasing/modifying abilities/skills/items/etc.

This certainly was a great ability to have, now he was immune to memory wiping and modifying! Which meant he could remember and notice if someone was traveling back on time or messing up with time just like now. He was pretty sure that the modification time received was minimal, but like the flapping wings of a butterfly can cause tornados, a single small change in a timeline can fuck everything up. Klein now had a way to know if someone is going back on time to kill his past self if one day he becomes too much of a threat to his enemies. As he was thinking that, he did not notice that hours had already passed and it was almost sunset, he was going through scenarios where he would need to deal with time travel which was very confusing and complicated. He decided ro go home, he just brought out his wings and flew away.

He decided to tomorrow find the anomaly that can rewind time, it would be necessary if he wants to know more about the supernatural side of this world... He would also need to invade the military bases across the world to find hidden information about researches and stuff like that so he can know everything. But now all he wants is to eat some ice cream, t which he came to find himself addicted to it, to sweets in general... He grew a sweet tooth. Soon as Klein returned to his cheap room, he sighed and lied down on the bed, he was in a world with people who have superpowers or maybe even magical knowledge and magic powers! Maybe if he makes some research deeply into modern magic he will learn something? As he thought of that he felt time changing, it was something strange like you've been hit by water but it was a sticky liquid that pulls you back and pushes you forward with momentum to have you on the ground but you don't fall... There's also this scene of everything going backward and something trying to enter his head.

Only to be stopped by his protective temporal barrier that protected his memories, his [Mental Powers: Mind Barrier (C)] was useless because it simply was rewinded to when it didn't exist and he would probably lose his memories when time stopped. He noticed that the amount of time that was rewinded was at best 2 minutes... Which wasn't much. Maybe the user hasn't found applications to this ability of their's yet? When going back in time, you need to know your destination point and your anchor/return point, which never necessary to go to that point in the past/future and return to your present! But if you are strong enough or skillful enough, you won't need any of those.

See? Time Travel/Control is very hard to understand completely... What makes it harder are the time paradoxes and reality breaks that happen when butterfly effects or other external/internal factor alters the fabric of reality by some extent. To give a simple example: If someone was supposed to die but they lived for the interference of an external factor (another person) or internal factor (something happens and the person doesn't die, without external interference), the butterfly flaps its wings! Unless, you know, it is an alternate universe and in that universe, that person was not supposed to die... This makes this chapter a bunch of confusing info dumb.

What Klein is trying to say is: Someone fucked up hard. The wings of the butterfly were flapped and destiny will try to correct the timeline before the butterfly can flaps its wings more... If the case was a person who was destined to die, then destiny will try to kill that person. In this case, Klein has two options here:

Help destiny and resolve the problem.

or

Defy destiny and have the butterfly's wings flap once more.

Klein smiled... If there was one thing he didn't like was the idea of being bound to something called fate! The idea that his road is already paved and that he will have to walk on it regardless of his will... He hates it! He doesn't want to be like that! As if in response to his feelings and subconscious mind (Also Plot Armor), a sound echoed in his head:

This was the skill he wanted! Now he is not blinded and bounded to this thing called fate anymore! Klein smiled looking at the sky as he read the effects of this ability that was created because of his emotions and subconscious mind... Plot armor? What's that?

Negates fate's influence on your actions and future. You and those who you desire are no longer bound to fate's strings... As an effect of having your connection to fate cut, you:

No longer can know your future or the future of those affected by this ability, for it cannot be read anymore.

You can see the strings of fate so you can remove them, however, you need to strong enough to remove them.

You and those affected by this ability cannot be manipulated by [magical] means.

You and those affected by this ability have no more luck or unluck. They simply don't exist for you anymore... Only actions and reactions, probabilities are still there, but your ability to influence them is negated (This limit can be removed if the user has any [Probability] control ability or any superior control ability of any type.)

This is exactly what he needed! Klein was, however, confused. From all the experiments he did, he knew that:

[Superior Adaptability] was a responsive ability. His subconscious mind reacts and he gets a new power, but this power was at a maximum rank (C)! Why now he got an (SSS)!? Is it because of his strong hate for fate? Is it because fate was trying to mess up with him? Is it because of something else he doesn't know!? Only time will tell.
