Beating the thugs

After cleaning up, Ray remembered that he still had to open his pickle stall. Although the stall doesn't earn much money, he always enjoyed being in bustling places where he can watch people come and go, the feeling of being immersed in an ever-changing world. Money doesn't matter to him at this stage.

After pushing his single-wheel vending cart to his spot, Old Ka who had been selling his deep-fried snacks smiled at Ray, "Little Ray, you came late today, did you have date or something yesterday?"

In his heart Ray mumbled, there wasn't a date, but there was a bed, and in reality he dully replied, "How can there be such a thing? Don't let your thoughts drift off, I just overslept."

Old Ka laughed, and with satisfaction he said, "My family's Rebecca finished her internship and returned home, yesterday she even told me to remember the kindness you showed us. Little Ray, if it wasn't for you, how can we possibly manage to afford both letting my wife see a doctor and providing Jingjing enough money to survive during her internship at that far away place?"

Old Ka's daughter, Rebecca, is the child he and his wife conceived late, their precious treasure. When she graduated from university, she went to another city for internship for two months, before returning home.

Ray had met that girl twice after he came to this place, she's classified as a jade-like beauty in his mind, however she's his friend's daughter, so he wouldn't have ideas about her.

"Haha, remember what kindness? In the future when I'm out of cash to eat you can just let me freeload on a few meals and that will do." Ray jokingly said.

"Alright then!" Old Ka suddenly nodded, "If you didn't mention it I would've forgotten, my wife and Rebecca both said to invite you to our house for a meal to properly express our gratitude for what you did for us. Tonight it is then!"

"This... Isn't needed right? Your family is having difficulty getting by on your own, what are you inviting me to have a meal for?"

Old Ka acted to be somewhat angry as he said, "How expensive can a meal get? Merely coarse tea and plain rice, you can bring some of your special pickle too and it will be a delicious feast then, Little Ray, if you don't come, you're holding my family in contempt."

Ray was left without a choice, he couldn't surpass the stubbornness of this tough old man, so he could only nod in agreement, and Old Ka grinned delightfully.

But right at that moment, a few ruffian's figures once again appeared in the market. They were a different group from before. He doesn't know if this guy knows about the accident or not. But he is really getting annoyed by their routine disturbances.

"pickle guy, have you prepared the money for protection fee? My brothers are waiting for that money to go eat breakfast and have a drink." the leader of this small group swung a silver chain in hand in circles as he moved forward with a smile that was neither cold nor warm.

Old Ka panicked, he stood in front of Ray and tried to call out, but Ray answered him while pulling him behind his back,"I already paid both of our fees, you people shouldn't go overboard and disturb us anymore! Even if your Boss Lukas owns this area, what qualifications do you have to be collecting protection fees!? Boss Lukas has long ago said that this area's protection fees will be collected by brother Zuma, do you think we don't know that!?"

"You..." Old Ka only realized after Ray spoke that he lied to these thugs about payment. After all, they never paid the protection fees for two stalls? But he just couldn't reveal it anymore.

Old Ka felt very guilty thinking that Ray lied because he didn't have the money to pay his own protection fees.

But in this world is there anyone who can give him protection, more accurately, does he even need protection from anyone? If there is a threat that can threaten him in this world, than that will be he himself.

"Heh... You don't know but Zuma died last night in a car accident. He didn't pay the money too so boss sent me to collect money from this area. It's your bad luck that you gave your money to him and he died. Now you have to pay again otherwise no protection from us. You know what happens when we don't provide protection, don't you?", the little bastard said that in a threatening tone.

Ray is amused by their ignorance. If they could understand, who or what he really is, they will immediately kneel in front him and bow their heads in fear and respect.

Truly, the proverb 'ignorance is bliss ' is created to honour these fools.

Ray Tristan frowned, and rubbed his forehead as he had a headache facing these fools. He was also cursing himself for his dumb action. If he killed Zuma after he gave the protection fees to gang, then it would have been a perfect revenge. Now his actions backfired on him. After remaining silent for a while, he dully said to the new thug, "You're called... Monira right? I'll call you big bro Monira, don't pick a quarrel out of nothing anymore. I as a person dislikes trouble, however, I don't have cash on hand today, I'll give it to you in a few days, you can return first."

"Whew!" One of the subordinates loudly laughed, "Big bro Monira, this brat thinks he is the boss!? He thinks we will return just because he told us to?"

The other little hoodlums also wildly laughed, and even hooted "let's teach this brat a lesson."

It was as if Monira also heard the funniest joke in the world, but in his heart he was truly angered by Ray's words, he evilly smiled and said, "pickle guy... If you have the guts say it again, do you believe that I'll cut your tongue off..." At the end of those words, there was obvious killing intent.

Ray's uncaring expression suddenly turned a little cold, and as he gave Monira a complicated gaze, he said, "Do you know what I, as a person hate the most?"

"What…"

Without waiting for Monira to complete speaking, Monira suddenly felt his whole body flying high in the sky! Immediately after, at the same time he felt a sharp pain on his abdomen, his body slammed into the roadside garbage bin with a "bam"sound! The remains of vegetables, leaves and fish covered his whole body, even his clothes were soaked by the rancid water!

"I, as a person, hate being threatened the most..."

As if only a simple push was made, Ray Tristan stood at the spot where Monira was previously standing, and withdrew the palm he threw out.
