energy

It was a sunny Monday morning. A large crowd of young students walked towards the hard to miss building. Some of them were quaking in their boots from nervousness. Others, while still nervous, tried their best to stay calm as they marched towards their destination. And a select few, like myself, felt no nervousness at all, emitting an air of calm, only possessed by those who knew themselves to be in perfect control.

As I walked towards the building, an exaggerated swagger oozing out of me, I looked around and noticed quite a few familiar faces, but even more unfamiliar ones. The title of U.A student was a rare yet popular thing.

I entered the main hall, showed proof that I was here for the exams before continuing towards the large room where the introduction would be. The one in charge of the event was Present Mic, a popular hero whose power was that of sound. He could raise the volume of his voice exponentially, giving it the power of a sonic wave, incapacitating his opponents by destroying their ears. I always liked him for his strangely boundless energy, something which was not always reciprocated by others, especially during the upcoming presentation. I planned to change that.

I entered the dimly lit hall before taking a seat in one of the many chairs around. I sat as far to the back as possible, which was also the highest place in the room, because, as the king of kings, I would never sit lower than somebody else!

After everyone had arrived and taken a seat, many spotlights across the ceiling turned on one by one, after which an iconic voice shouted.

"For all you examinee listeners tuning in, welcome to my show today!" A weirdly dressed man with a large plume of yellow hair said. He then shouted, in the most broken English possible:

"Everybody say 'HEY'!"

"HEY!" One lone yet still surprisingly loud voice echoed across the hall. Everyone present looked for its origin, and so, all eyes were on me. If no one was going to return that man's energy, then I guess I'd have to do it myself. That is the least respect you could give him.

Present Mic became pleasantly surprised. He had honestly expected nothing but silence.

"Well, I guess one of you has brought the right energy for today. Anyway, I'll quickly present to you the rundown of the practical exam! Are you ready? Yeah!"

"YEAH!" I returned, even louder this time. I tried raising my voice to have the rest join me, but it seemed there were only weaklings here today.

Present Mic then continued to explain the contents of the practical exam. I, of course, knew what was going to happen, so I did not pay too much attention. It all came down to destroying robots for points. Nothing too complicated.

One bus ride later, I, along with the other students, arrived at battle centre B, a truly gigantic mock city, designed solely for the purpose of letting your powers loose. I deemed it extravagant at first, but considering the firepower I wielded, it was fair to say it was necessary.

It seemed the attention of the crowd was on Midoriya, thanks to a minor event I did not notice. I did see quite a few ladies shoot intrigued glances at me, and even some guys could not keep their eyes to themselves. I did not blame them, though, nor did I care.

It was finally time to start. Present Mic gave the signal, and the giant gates to the mock city swayed open. Unlike all examinees, who immediately ran inside, I instead equipped my pair of golden bracers before slowly levitating in the air and flying into the city. This action earned me many surprised glances, and even Present Mic himself could not help but be intrigued. As I flew past the surprised younglings, I noticed a large, beast-like robot, which immediately became my target. Standing mid-air, as if a god had descended, I readied a gate containing a sword above me. Then, with all the pride and arrogance of a king, I smirked.

"Disappear."

BOOM!

Immediately after I spoke, the weapon burst forth with enormous might, Exploding as soon it came in contact with the machine. When the smoke cleared up, the only thing that proved the robot ever existed was a rain of small, charred parts and a crowd filled with surprised faces. The silence did not last long, as the other examinees also had points to score and headed out. I also did not stop and continued my onslaught, looking to set a record. Pretty soon, the sound of explosions was all that you could hear in battle centre B.

A short time later, my slaughter was interrupted when I saw a large shadow loom over me. It was a dinosaur-shaped robot, many times large than the other enemies and many times more imposing. It was also worth the least, a whopping zero points.

As the beast towered over me, trying to strike fear in my heart, all I felt was irritation.

"Who told you you could look over me? Prostrate yourself!" I said before firing at the beast's legs. Due to its size, It collapsed quite slowly, which only served to annoy me more.

"You slow beast, just disappear," I said, a frown present on my face. I summoned a gate, from which a weapon emerged, a halberd this time. I aimer at the robot before firing with a great deal of power, creating a large hole in the beast's torso as it exploded.

BOOM!

And just like that, another beast disappeared, destroyed by my hands. I merely scoffed lightly before flying away, looking for my next target.

My epic kill was, of course, noticed by the other participants, but after witnessing me breeze through this examination for what felt like ages, they had learned to concentrate on their own hunting. I was, after all, nice enough to leave a few monsters roaming, to give the others a chance.
