You Think?

Kathleen quickly made a bowl of cornflakes for herself and ate as quickly as she could before swallowing the medicine.

By the time she was done, her mother and Isioma were already standing outside with Pete and Amanda. 

Pete opened the door for the others to get in, and then gave her a once over as she approached the car.

She tried not to meet his gaze but didn't escape the grin on his face as he held out the door for her to get in. "How are you feeling this morning?" 

"Fine, thank you," Kathleen said as she quickly got in.

The drive to the church was uneventful, as neither Pete nor Kathleen said a word to each other. Amanda, however, kept the car lively as she chattered excitedly about her friends at school. 

Pete couldn't help but wonder how much Kathleen remembered about last night and why she seemed so embarrassed this morning.
