I never had the chance to scream because everything happened so fast. Lukas hugged me so tightly as we fell that not even the wind could scratch my face. The fear of falling didn't even register until we reached the ground, tumbling down the rocky side of the cliff, and it was the sound of the body hitting something hard that made my heart drop.
My heart was in my throat as I rose from Lukas' body. I was lying atop him with his arms wrapped around my head, guarding me against terrible injuries. The smell of blood got stronger this time around, and I could already tell that his injuries were much worse this time. After all, he cushioned our fall.
"Lukas?"
Why did he…?!
He didn't react, so he could only be unconscious. I hope he was only unconscious…
