Which Reward to Choose?

A/N: I have something to say before the start of the chapter.

I have been noticing that sometimes I would get very bad review like 1 star. That is fine. Every one is entitled to their own opinion.

What I don't like is not giving a proper criticism or review. Sometimes the readers would write like "xoxoxoxoxoxooxo" or just some gibberish. If you are giving me a bad review, at least tell me what I did that made you feel that way. Then I would improve on it.

Such reviews would be deleted.

"Now that you have the badge, let's discuss your reward," said Koga.

Axel straightened up and looked at them.

"You know you would receive a certain amount of money, but I know you don't want that," said Koga.

Axel nodded his head. He really didn't care about the money now. He had lots of it.

"We have a special reward that would help you in the future. Why don't we just get some lunch and discuss it? I am starving," said Morgan.

They were now in a lavish restaurant, the fanciest in town. Since Koga had come here, all the charges were dropped. Koga rarely visited his restaurant, and the owner wanted to maintain a good relationship with him. All three of them sat down to chat.

"So, how is the Venu family doing? I heard they are treating you very well," said Koga.

"Yes, they are treating me like family," said Axel. He then shared the recent happenings of the Venu family, their mission, and the deal Angela had made with Axel.

"It is sad to hear that so many capable trainers died. But Angela did a good thing by making that deal with you. She might be kind, but she is a cruel leader. Don't forget that, Axel," said Koga.

"We also wanted to update you about Brine," said Morgan.

Brine was an unknown trainer from the Unova region who had obtained his 6th gym badge when Axel only had 3. He also came from a middle-class family like Axel and had no support in the beginning. It was surprising to hear about Brine when Axel already knew that such a person didn't exist in canon.

"So, is that news just fake like you said before?" asked Axel.

"Unfortunately, Brine exists, and the rumors about him are true. He has already obtained his 8th badge and registered for the Unova League. The Unova League will start in one year," said Morgan.

"Really? Did you find out how he was able to do it?" asked Axel.

"No. The Unova region is very secretive about it. We could only verify Brine's identity when he registered for the league battle. We don't know anything else about him, including the Pokemon he uses," replied Morgan.

"Axel, don't stress out about it. You are doing everything you can to better yourself. That is all you have to do. You might have to deal with Brine in the future, but that is in the future. Worrying about him right now will not make any difference. Just concentrate on getting the next gym badge and registering for the league," said Koga.

Koga was right. Axel could not do anything about this Brine. He just had to train harder.

"What about others like Steven and Cynthia?" asked Axel.

"They are doing well, but none of them are as ahead as you. We have heard that Cynthia now has 2 pseudo-king rank Pokemon, but you have more than that," said Koga.

"I have also heard that they are now going to participate in the tide after hearing about you. They are the ones jealous of you, not the other way around. But that doesn't mean you can relax," said Morgan.

The food arrived, and Axel enjoyed it. It was rare for Axel to eat at these types of restaurants. He had the money, but he didn't want to waste it.

"Now, let's talk about your reward. I want you to choose for yourself. The reward will be from both of us," said Koga.

Axel nodded in understanding.

"First, we thought of giving you a baby Pokemon with monstrous potential. You could choose any of them as long as they are poison type or electric type. But then we realized it would not be a good reward.

You can't possibly use it in the league. So, we thought of giving you our training plans for poison type or electric type. But then Morgan said, 'Let's make it interesting'," said Koga.

"Come on! Tell me the interesting part," said Axel.

"Patience, Axel. The interesting reward is being a part of the explorer team on an unknown island. The league has finally decided to explore this island after a long time. It hasn't been done in the past because the environment of the island is very harsh, and humans could not survive on it.

So, after a lot of research, we developed a type of suit that would help us survive on that island. Since it is an unknown island, it has not been explored, but we can tell that it is filled with active volcanoes and most of the land is covered with hot molten lava. So, are you up for it?"

"When does this exploration start?" asked Axel.

"After 7 days. We can secure your entry. This island has been allocated to the Kanto region only. There will be a lot of seniors, so your safety is assured," said Koga.

"What benefits would I get from this unknown island?" asked Axel. If he couldn't get any benefits, it would just be a waste.

"Axel, you would gain a lot of benefits. Being an explorer is a dangerous job. Do you really think these explorers would risk their lives just for the sake of the league? They will get the first pick of anything they find. This is an unknown island, and there could be a lot of valuable and unknown things," said Koga.

"We also think it would really boost your Charizard's power. Since it is a fire type Pokemon and this island is made of volcanoes, it could power up a lot," said Morgan.

Axel now had a choice. There were three choices. He discarded the first one. The last thing he needed right now was a new Pokemon. He could also get a new Pokemon from the forest of Hakone City, and there was a forest he obtained as a reward from the league.

The second reward was tempting. The moves that Koga used were very versatile, and they could really help Nidorino. He didn't care for the training plans of electric Pokemon because he didn't have any electric Pokemon.

However, this island proposal was also very tempting. What should he choose?
