CHAPTER 114

XAVIER'S POV

We barged into the basement, waiting for something to happen. 

Anything actually. 

The shadows are already dissolving into the nighttime darkness when I see the man look toward me.

But it felt like time had stopped. With Ophelia behind me, and Alexander and that guard still staring at us. It felt like no one moved. We all stared at one another, like a game of cat and mouse. There were six doors on each side of the corridor. Twelve being in total in the basement. Each of them had a similar door pattern, so it was going to be hard to find which one held Nicole captive. 

Even if Nicole was still away from me, I couldn't help but feel this weird type of excitement. But it wasn't excitement alone. There was fear too.

"Xavier, watch out!"
