A Trick

CHLOE'S POV

"You remember how I used to posses Darryl, back in Tellon Valley?" Oliver asked, to which I simply nodded. "Well, he used to be tired all the time, so if you can get her to become tired, maybe you will be able to posses her. It's risky though, because there is no way she won't notice having a blackout at all."

"And how do I do that?" I asked him. "It's not like it's up to me to make her tired. By the time she becomes tired by herself, it will be useless because it will be middle of the night!! I mean, what's the point then?"

"Well, it will be a lot of work, but… you can posses her then and keep her awake for most of the night?" Oliver raised his eyebrows and shrugged. "Besides, it's not she is a very social person, so when you leave her body, she will just think that she overslept, and not that she has a hole in her memory.

"That's… actually a great idea!" I snorted.

"Well, I have my own ways of sneaking around, Oliver declared proudly. I simply shook my head at his proud self.

"It will require us to stay here for the day though." I told them both. "What if Margaret looks for us? Despite our fight, I think we shuld tell her that we will be staying here."I told them, still sad about upsetting her, even though I am pretty sure it was hardly my fault.

"I'll go."Oliver said. "Ken is much more experienced ghost than I am, he can help you better if needed."

He was about to leave when I shouted. "Wait!" He stopped in his tracks and looked back. "You are the only one who knows where she works. If I posses her, I will be lost. I want to see her work environment. See if it triggers any memories of mine." I laid out my wish.

"I will come and visit tomorrow morning. Don't worry, just focus on keeping her not asleep for the night.!" He smirked and left.

"So… what do we do now?" Ken asked pouting after few moments passed.

"Well, my sick daughter is abandoned for the day, so… I will be taking care of her, watching over her." I smiled sadly. "You don't have to stay though! You can stroll around if you want."

"Actually… that's a great idea." He smirked, giving of a devilish grin, as if he was about to do something nasty. He left immediately after that

I waited for almost seven hours for anyone to return. Ken was still gone, God knows what he was upto, meanwhile I kept checking on Momo's fever as much as I could. I was not sure how much my senses could be trusted, but I think I felt her fever had significantly decrease. She was still sleeping soundly though, but it's possible that it was because of the drugs she was given by that evil wench.

Ken returned looking really proud of himself. "What's going on?" I asked him.

"Well, I kind of played a dirty trick." He looked embarrassed and proud of himself at the same time. I raised my eyebrows at him, signalling him to continue.

"You know how can control my apparition?" He gave a cocky smile and I shook my head at his weird boast. "Well I was doing that exactly. Remember when we came last time, liver said he heard your neighbour call her Virginia?" I nodded

"Well, I was standing outside the door, in a way humans will see me. And turns out the lady next door, Mrs Murphy she is very fond of Momo. She sometimes watches over Momo when both of them had to work."

My eyes widened after hearing that. "Then why didn't that witch keep her with Mrs Murphy instead of keeping her here all by herself?"I asked him outraged. He shrugged before he conyinued his story.

"Well, I told her I was waiting for 'you' to come back, that I am your cousin who is visiting you for personal reasons. Since I got all of your names right, she did not suspect anything spooky from me. He smiled, quiet proud of himself, and I deadpanned.

"Are you crazy!?" I shouted at him, and he flinched clearly surprised at my outburst.

"What!? I was just trying to help." he brought out his signature puppy eyes.

"And what if she talks about you with... well her!! Both of them will find out that you were a hoax, which will further raise suspicion!" I explained him.

"Relax will you?" He looked at me as if I was stupid, that he had considered that beforehand. "Since 'you' did not show up today, and I had to leave town because it was getting late, she told me she will inform you tomorrow that I visited you." He rolled his eyes, while I still kept staring at him in confusion. "Tomorrow it won't actually be her, it will be you possessing her remember?" I made a slight 'Aah' with my mouth.

"But what if I fail?" I asked him. "There is a very high chance it won't work, you realise that right?" I voiced my concern

"Don't be so negative. Start believing in yourself and see how everything becomes so easy." He smirked. I simply smiled at him

"So I asked her all about you, how you have been doing since you moved here and all. basically doing a background check. Unfortunately I did not find anything new." He frowned slightly.

"Hey, its okay, I really appreciate you trying. Who knows, maybe someday you can repeat this 'trick'of yours and something useful might come up.

At that moment I heard the door unlock again, as the devil woman walked in the house.
