World Literature

The three have already arrived in class. The moment the three of them entered, the other students' eyes shifted to them, making Angeal uncomfortable since she didn't like being looked at.

Especially when boys look at her.

The three of them chose their seats in the middle of the room. Frey sat beside Angeal and Arvid sat behind the two girls since the seats and tables only accommodated pairs.

Some of them averted their eyes away from the three, but the girls didn't leave their gazes on Arvid. The boy sighed, realizing that his looks were indeed troublesome in the human world.

After some time, a girl approached Arvid then gathered the courage to speak to him. She looked like the flirtatious type of woman who would get a guy easily with just a snap of her fingers.

The girl had curly natural red hair that was tied in half. Her eyes had eyeliner, and her lips had a light red tint on it. She also had a light blush on her cheek that is the same shade with her lip tint. She wore a nice dress that accentuated the curves of her body.

"Hey... is the seat beside you taken," she asked as she extended her hand to introduce herself to Arvid. "The name's Dharvey," she added and Arvid looked at her then just gave her a grim smile before shaking her hand.

"Arvid," he introduced himself blankly, still finding difficulties talking with other mortals since he only communicated with Frey, Angeal, and old man Gladios.

The girl smiled, emphasizing her looks. Angeal and Frey who were watching the two, gave each other a stare that only them understood.

'Vixen!'

Dharvey cocked her head as she blinked her eyes at Arvid.

"You haven't answered my question... is this seat taken?"

"Err..."

Arvid looked at Frey who was in front of him.

"No, but my girlfriend would feel uneasy if you sit beside me. I wouldn't want her to feel uncomfortable."

When Frey heard this, she quickly looked at Arvid with wide eyes, not liking what she heard.

'He's making me sound insecure!'

Frey looked at Dharvey who furrowed her brows, not expecting the rejection. She had never been rejected before, and what's more... she learned that her target is taken!

"No, no, Dharvey. I will not be upset—"

"Oh! Angeal, Frey, and Arvid, right?"

Just now, Arlo, came in. He was wearing a simple plain white shirt, jeans, then rubber shoes. He was quite popular for being part of their university's varsity team for basketball that's why he got a lot of greets from boys and girls in class.

He waved and smiled at them but since he only knew Frey and Angeal for going in the same high school, and Arvid just recently when they ate from where he works, he approached them then greeted them again.

"Hey. So we're in the same class," Arlo said then remembering what had happened a while ago, Frey looked at him then spoke.

"Yeah! We saved you a seat. Beside Arvid," she said, which made Dharvey look at her, finding her reaction weird.

'If she is Arvid's girl, why aren't they sitting together? Unless... she's not really his girl?'

Dharvey internally scoffed, smiled, then looked at the two boys in front of her, completely ignoring Frey and Angeal.

"I see... the seat's taken. Well, I'll just be off and find my own," she said as she walked away, giving them a wave goodbye.

The moment she left, Frey shot Arvid a look, obviously showing frustration from what the young immortal said.

"You made me sound insecure! You shouldn't say that," she complained in a whisper, making Arlo furrow his brows in curiosity.

"What is this now," the varsity player asked as he sat beside him.

Arvid scratched the back of his head, confused as to why Frey acted like that when they agreed to pretend that they were dating to brush women off.

"Frey and I pretend to look like we're dating because I don't want to feel the stares of random women," the young immortal whispered, which made Arlo chuckle.

"I see," he commented then his hazel eyes met Angeal's blue eyes, making the girl in front of him avert her gaze.

'He looked at me!'

Not wanting to look awkward, Angeal looked back again to see Arlo talking with Arvid about video games. Frey chimed in, commenting that they are like children still addicted to playing games.

As Angeal looked at Arlo as he spoke, their eyes met once more. The boy smiled at her then waved his hand to say hello, which in turn, made sweet Angeal smile then wave back at him.

'We just exchanged gestures!'

Just now, the bell rang, making the students who were standing find their own seats. The four of them suddenly went quiet, then looked in front to see who their teacher is.

The professor for their World Literature class came in and the moment he entered, the class silenced as he wrote on the board their subject and the schedule they are enrolled in. Afterwards, he faced the class then spoke.

"I am just a substitute teacher since your professor would be running late as of the moment since he is in an emergency meeting."

The class erupted in a conversational whisper as they heard this. It was the first day of their class, first subject even, yet their professor isn't around since he was called for an emergency meeting?

"Your instructor is new this semester that's why he was called in for more information about his work. He will come in soon. I will only be here for a few minutes," the old professor said then the students silenced once more.

But somehow, with that, the students were now curious who their teacher is. There were some old students in their class who had been studying here for more than a year or two already and took up World Literature class late. They knew most of the instructors here and hearing that there is a new one, made them curious.

"Now for your first individual work, get one whole sheet of paper and fold them into four. You are to make your learning contract for this subject."

When the students heard that, most of them groaned, even the calm Angeal rolled her eyes when she heard the words "learning contract" again.

It was no longer new to the students, even for the freshmen. In their university, every time the semester starts, in the first day of attending all of their subjects, they have the usual meet and greet. Not only that, instructors require them to make a learning contract wherein in a piece of paper, they would write what they think of the class, what their expectations are from their teacher, themselves, and the subject.

For every student of Green University, the first day would always be boring and predictable, making most of the students attend the second meeting rather than the first meeting.

The instructor raised an eyebrow at them, finding the students' clamor annoying early in the morning.

"Come on now! Do it while you wait for your professor. You guys aren't children anymore," he instructed them then the students mumbled, showing loss of interest, as they open their bags for their paper and pen.

As they were doing the learning contract, they were suddenly distracted when they heard a voice as handsome as his face.

"Thank you, Mr. Trevor. I'll take it from here."

The moment he entered the room, the old professor nodded at him, gave him a smile, then left the room, leaving the class under the handsome professor's care.

He walked in the middle of the room, then stopped to face everyone in class.

The professor had blonde hair and beautiful blue eyes. For an adult around in his mid 40s, he looked young and exceptionally handsome to be a professor.

He wrote his name on the board, then turned his back to greet everyone with a smile.

"Good morning, everyone. I am Professor Leonark, but you may just call me Professor Leon. I am your World Literature instructor from this day forth until you finish the subject," he said then he chuckled, revealing his perfect white teeth. "Unless you plan to fail to take this subject again," he added making some of the girls at the back swoon.

Frey turned her back to look at the boys then spoke.

"He somewhat looks like Angeal, no?"

Instinctively, Arvid, Arlo, and Angeal looked at their instructor in front as he furthermore introduced himself to the class.

"Well... they both have blonde hair and blue eyes," Arvid shrugged and Arlo chimed in.

"Yeah... I think that's what makes them look alike," he added as they listened to Professor Leon talk in front of the class.

Frey looked at Angeal beside her, who looked like she was pulled into her own thoughts completely, making her physically present, but mentally absent.

"Are you okay," she whispered, making Angeal look at her. Angeal got her phone from her pocket, typed, then showed it to her from under the desk.

"Do you think he really looks like me?"

Frey now understood why she asked that.

Angeal never met her real father. She was told that when her father knew that her mother was pregnant, he left without saying a word. As she grew, Gladios never bothered looking for him, believing that they never needed him to raise Angeal.

Angeal's best friend held her hand then whispered.

"Don't overthink this. It was just a speculation," she said making Angeal nod once. "Besides... the world is big! There are a lot of people there that may look like us! Maybe professor is just one of those people who look like you," Frey added and Angeal smiled, feeling foolish for overthinking.

'Frey's right... maybe the uneasiness in my heart is just from thinking too much.'

But do you think that Professor Leon is connected to Angeal? ;) I want your thoughts down below~! Shoutout to aizacon, DaoistDzyGb, and RABBITICOL for the stones!
