Beautiful and Handsome

"We are done." Li Wei called out from inside the bedroom after a couple of minutes while Da Xia waited in the front yard for her husbands to get changed into the new clothes.

She kept thinking about how foolish both of her husbands were. How easily they told her that they trusted her. What an irony it was, even she didn't trust herself that blindly.

"Wifey...?" Li Jun called when they heard no response from her. As Da Xia came out from the world of her thoughts, she headed inside the room.

As soon as her eyes landed on the two handsome men, she knew that her choices were perfect. The two of them always looked good even in their faded and unkempt clothes but now, when they were wearing high-quality clothes made of fine silk, they almost started looking like young masters of some rich family.

"How are we looking, wifey?" Li Jun asked excitedly as he noticed their wife closely observing him and his bother.

A very faint smile appeared on Da Xia's lips as she answered, "Beautiful." And she truly meant it.

However, her sincere compliment made Li Jun flustered as his cheeks turned bright pink and he hurriedly looked down as he mumbled, "We are not girls. Why would you say that we are looking beautiful?"

His words made Da Xia chuckle as she shook her head while looking at her adorable husband. "What are you talking about? Who told you that a man can't be beautiful or a woman can't be handsome?" she asked and watched as Li Jun's face suddenly became serious for a few seconds before he slowly shook his head.

It wasn't his fault. Though no one actually told him that a man couldn't be beautiful, he had always heard the word used only for women. He had never before heard anyone calling a man beautiful no matter how good-looking he was.

"I'm not lying. I told you guys that you both are looking beautiful because you two are looking beautiful. From the very first moment I saw you, I knew that both of you possess godly looks. It's just that today, these clothes gave your good looks a boost. I'm sure if the people of the Province can see you right now, they will forget how to breathe." Da Xia didn't hold herself back as she complemented her husbands some more.

This time, even Li Wei became embarrassed and shy as he tried to scratch his temple to find something to do while he settled his nerves. Suddenly receiving such sincere compliments from their wife was so new for both the brothers and they were having a hard time facing it.

"T... t-then... wifey is b-beautiful too..." Li Jun spoke in a flustered tone as he gave her a quick look before hurriedly turning away. Though he was trying to contain it, the smile on his lips was still clearly evident.

An unhappy sigh left Da Xia's lips which immediately made both her husbands turn their focus on her. "This is not right. If all three of us will become beautiful then there won't be anyone left in our house to take the position of being handsome. What a shame!"

The smile that immediately followed her words finally made Li Wei and Li Jun relax. "Wifey..." Li Jun called out as he made an unhappy face, clearly not liking to be tortured by his wife's poor sense of humor anymore.

"Alright, alright! I won't tease anymore. Come on, let me style your hair." She told Li Jun before she made him sit on a wooden stool as she picked up the comb and started untangling his hair.

It took her quite some time but she succeeded in untangling his waist-length hair. Next, she took out a jar sitting beside the bronze mirror and opened it. A very sweet and fresh fragrance suddenly filled the air, attracting the attention of both men to the jar.

"What is it?" Li Wei asked as he checked the content of the jar before taking a sniff of the liquid that was stored in it.

"It's a herbal liquid that I prepared a few days ago using some flowers and wild herbs. Let me apply it to your hair." Da Xia explained as she poured a little bit of the liquid on her palm before rubbing both her hands together she started massaging Li Jun's head.

It didn't take her long to finish the massage and then style his hair simply in a ponytail. Since they didn't have any hairpins at home, she used a green ribbon to tie his hair.

She repeated the same steps with Li Wei as she first untangled his hair and then massaged his scalp with the fragrant liquid before styling his hair in a similar ponytail as his brother's and securing it with a black ribbon.

"Here, it's done!" She announced as soon as she was done with Li Wei's hair. Though she had already mentioned it several times, her husbands were really good-looking.

As Da Xia looked at both of her husbands, she did see the looks in their eyes. The way they were looking at her with warmth, affection, and also gratitude, made her feel something fluttering inside her.

"You are so good to us, Wifey." Li Jun suddenly spoke as he walked closer to her and took hold of both of her hands. Li Wei also nodded his head in agreement as he gave her a soft smile.

Da Xia was about to reply when suddenly, the world around her started spinning all of a sudden. She felt a harsh grip on her arms and it felt like someone was pulling her away from Li Wei and Li Jun who appeared to be suddenly frozen in time.

"I... I... " Da Xia tried to speak but words refused to come out of her mouth and as she raised one of her hands toward the direction where her husbands were standing, the world turned upside-down, pulling her into a dark abyss.
