Small Celebration Party

"He's truly a great figure," Feng Mian replied.

Yu Yan flicked a glance to Feng Mian. A thought crossed her mind. "Now that I think about it, you're not one to gossip around about this matter. Is there already someone in your mind whom you like?"

"Someone I like? I think no."

Seeing how Feng Mian replied casually, Yu Yan could guess that she was serious. She sighed a bit and patted Feng Mian's back. "Don't worry, I'm sure that your family condition will get better and then you can find a man worthy of a great designer like you."

Feng Mian smiled. "I can say the same to you."

"I already have Bao Tu," Yu Yan shook her finger. "I visited his family during New Year. They're not bad."

"Oh? You have met his parents? I thought that you're only together for a few months." Feng Mian was surprised. Yu Yan didn't usually rush her romance because she wanted a partner that could accompany her for a lifetime. Yu Yan was three years older than her, but she was still single because of this principle.

Yu Yan shrugged. "He insisted, and you know that I don't really like going back home, so I accepted."

"I see."

Even though Feng Mian was not totally clear about Yu Yan's family, she had heard about them from time to time. Yu Yan didn't have a harmonious relationship with her family because of some reasons. Feng Mian herself also didn't like to tell much about herself, so the two of them rarely told the serious matter of their family. Because of that, their knowledge over each other's background was limited.

"Let's go to our small table. I'll get over some food."

"I'll take the drinks."

Feng Mian was not close to other people in the company. She also didn't have much interest to do so. Even though they didn't treat her harshly, she could recognize the slight disgust they showed on their eyes when she tried to talk with any of them.

They didn't want her to get so close to any of them.

Even though Feng Mian didn't know much, she could guess that many of them were looking down on her because of her background. Some of them were already here from the time she was still an intern, so they had seen that she was working so hard just to fulfill the requirement. When she was late, some knew she had to work while others spread other rumors.

The two women picked the food and drink before they headed to their small tables. Feng Mian looked at Yu Yan apologetically.

"Sorry for involving you."

"Nah, it's fine. I don't really like socializing with them too," Yu Yan waved her hand. "Besides, after you left, I'll be able to visit the higher ups and have a chat with them."

Feng Mian nodded. The directors usually finished later, so they only joined after the party was halfway done. Yu Yan often talked with them about the project and because of their personality, she matched them well.

Well, rather than gossiping around, it would be better to socialize with the higher ups.

The food today was meat and cheese pizza. Looking at the topping, Feng Mian could feel her saliva dropping. Her hand hurriedly picked one of them as she started to eat. Beside her, Yu Yan also picked another one to eat.

Once Feng Mian finished that one piece, she took another one.

And another one.

In the end, the two boxes of pizza Yu Yan brought from the room were completely eaten by the two women.

"It tasted good," Yu Yan commented. She waved her soda can. "Let's toast. Happy New Year, Mian'er."

"Happy New Year, Yan'er."

The two cans clinked with one another. Feng Mian hand just enjoyed the drink when she saw several people came from the other room. They were laughing and in their group, she could see Su Han was flirting with another woman. Her eyebrows scrunched a bit.

He was already married, right?

"Oh? You two are here again?" Su Han asked as if he was surprised. In the previous celebration, both of them also didn't join with the rest and stayed out to eat together.

Yu Yan arched her eyebrows. "What do you want, Su Han?"

"Nothing. I'm just surprised that there's a Cinderella here~," Su Han sneered. "Acting all poor yet dressed up nicely today."

Feng Mian's frown grew deeper. She usually only wore a simple dress, which was different from this elegant dress that Zhang Liang brought her. However, it didn't mean that she would accept his insult.

"I didn't see any Cinderella here. We're not living in a fairytale after all." Feng Mian crossed her arm. "Also, shouldn't you maintain your business distance? I'm sure your wife wouldn't be happy to see you flirt with another woman."

The blunt remark from Feng Mian shook the woman by Su Han's side. She hurriedly retreated back as if Su Han was a plague. Her mind recalled that Feng Mian's words were true. Su Han was already married and his wife… is very scary.

Su Han's face darkened. "You…"

"When you speak, you need to remember to back your words with fact," Feng Mian cut off his speech. "Haven't your parents taught you this?"

"Don't cut…"

"Also, I'm sure that you should know that you shouldn't spout lies. If you spot your friends telling lies, your teacher will demand you to tell them, right?"

This time, Su Han was unable to retort back. Even though their teachers would not say those directly, they were indirectly taught to say the truth.

At this moment, the other employees already retreated and headed to the restroom, leaving Su Han. Seeing that his friends were leaving him, Su Han gnashed his teeth.

Forget it, since today is a celebration day, he should just let it go.

With a heart full of rage, Su Han walked behind his friends.

"They finally left." Feng Mian heaved a sigh.

"You're really blunt."

Feng Mian shrugged. "He's the one starting it. If he provoked me, I'm not going to let him off so easily."

"Indeed."

Yu Yan thought to herself for a bit before she turned to look at Feng Mian. "I have been a bit curious. Do you believe in fairytale that miracles could happen so that somehow everything will end well?"

"No, I do not," Feng Mian didn't even take more than one second to reply. She looked at Yu Yan. "If you want to achieve your happiness, you need to work for it. There's nothing you can get for free and instantly."

Yu Yan opened her mouth but decided to say nothing. She pointed to the room beside. "Let's go inside. I'm sure the directors have joined in."

"Ok."
