Chapter Twelve
I wake up to a knock at my door. What time was it? I lean over to grab my phone and see that it was ten in the morning and that I forgot to charge my phone last night. Smart move, Emma.
Even after being asleep for over twelve hours, I'm still overly dead. I could still sleep in if I wanted to.
Another knock followed by my name is heard, and I whine out in annoyance.
"What?" I call out, just wanting Alex to get on with it.
"There's a boy here for you." He replays poking his head in. This makes me snap upright in bed right away. A boy? I look at my phone again to see if anyone said they were coming over, but there's no text.
"Who?" I ask slightly panicked after getting up, trying to make myself presentable.
"I don't know, I think he said his name was Luke." Luke? Oh god no, please no.
I should have known ignoring him would bring him here.
"Fuuuuuuuuck" I was not good with surprises.
"I'll send him up." Alex says leaving. No, no, no. This is not going to go well. I just woke up for pete's sake.
I am momentarily stuck in one place unable to choose my next plan of action. But the door opens revealing Luke. I stared at him with wides eyed, not knowing what to do or say.
"You weren't answering me, so I decided to see you in person." He explains himself, gazing around my room.
"Sorry for ignoring you." I rub my hands over my face. This is not how I imagined waking up this morning.
"I'm terrible at handling any sort of situation." I continue just loud enough for him to hear, as I bring my arms to my chest. He takes this moment to step closer to me and pulls me to him.
"It's okay, Emma. I just wish you wouldn't shut me out."
"You better not hurt me, Luke." I mumble against his chest. My 5"4 stature small compared to his 6"4.
We stay like that a little longer before he breaks our embrace. He ends up leaving after a few minutes because he had plans with a friend. I had to shove him out the door to go because he kept asking if I'd be alright. He had assured me that the rumors were just that. Rumors.
Alex pops back in after I sit down on my bed.
"Are you dating him?" Alex questions me as he joins me on my bed. Here's the overprotective brother I know.
"It's not anything official or exclusive."
"If he hurts you in any way, I won't hesitate to kill him." I laugh a little at my brother.
"You could not murder anyone, even if you wanted to." I point out.
"Well, I could badly injure him." He says all serious."
"I know, Alex. And if he does, I'll be sure to let you know." I pat his shoulder,
"Now leave, I need to shower." I stand up and push him out too.

It was only right in my mind to take a girl's day. I called Isabel after I had showered and invited her out to go shopping with me. It's always more fun to go with someone.
I was currently in Alex's car driving to pick her up. One Direction plays softly in the background as I make a turn into another street. It had taken a lot to convince my brother I wouldn't crash. In my opinion, I'm the better driver. I should be worried for my life when he drives.
I had gotten my driver's license before we moved, but I hadn't been up for driving that much when we got here.
I pull up to the house that Isabel told me to go to and see her waiting on her porch steps. I smile and wave at her as she comes closer to the car.
She hops in the passenger seat and turns to me.
We both get out of the car, and I check my parking. On point. I silently praise myself and make my way to the entrance.
I head towards the mall in town. This will be my first time going so I'm relying on Isabel to make sure I don't get lost.
I drive around the parking lot searching for a decent spot. At last, I find one and I do my best at parking within the lines.
We found ourselves in a dress boutique. We passed by the store but upon seeing the dresses in the Windows, we couldn't resist.
I'm stood in front of a black, strapless dress that has a rhinestone embroidered around the waist with some rogue stones going down to the hem. I run my hands down the front, and I can't resist the urge to try it on.
"That's are really pretty dress." Isabel intercepts my walking. In her hands was a long, royal blue dress with cutouts around the waist.
"It is. I'm going to try it on, you should try that dress on too." I persuade her to do so.
After getting the dress on, I step out to look in the full length mirrors. Isabel soon joins me, and we admire ourselves and each other.
"I wish prom could happen right now."
"That'll be a while." I shake my head. It was still the very beginning of the year, prom is months away.
We take the dresses up and meet back up with each other.
"Ya know, I'm very tempted to buy this dress." I start, looking down at the dress in my hands. Even though prom is ages away, it wouldn't hurt to beat the rush to get one.
In the end, I end up buying it because I just couldn't leave this behind. My only complaint is why does everything has to cost so much nowadays. I spent a good 70 dollars on this dress, but I do not regret it.
Isabel was on the fence about if she should get her dress. It is a very pretty dress and did suit her well. It took her a whole five minutes to decide to finally get it.
Let's just hope they still fit when the time comes to wear them.
By the end of our day, I end up with a couple of new outfits that I plan on wearing next week and some new converse. Me and Isabel decided to get something to eat and then head home because it was getting late in the afternoon.
I had managed to find my way back home after dropping Isabel back off at her house. We made sure to hang out again shortly.
I toss the car keys at Alex before making my way back to my room. I put my new clothes away in their respective places and lay on my bed.
No one better wake me up tomorrow.
