Chapter Three
I wake up to my alarm clock. I hit snooze at least five times before I remember that I'm hanging out with Luke after school today. I get up fast.
It's supposed to be warm again today, like always. So I grab my black sundress and sandals. I decide to lightly curl my hair, I head into my bathroom and get my curling iron from the drawer. It takes me 20 minutes until I'm pleased with the final product.
Next, I do my makeup -- I use some foundation and put thick eyeliner on with a decent amount of mascara. Once I'm happy, I grab my book bag and head downstairs.
"You look pretty today." My mom smiles at me as I enter the kitchen.
"Thanks." I half-smile back. Awkward with the fact that she just complimented me.
I grab a cup and pour myself some coffee while Alex makes faces at me behind our mom's back.
"So when am I going to meet your new friend, Isabel?" My mom asks.
"I'll ask her if she wants to come over this weekend when I see her today."
"Okay."
I finish my coffee and head out the door to school dragging Alex behind me. I hated how conversations with my mom were awkward.

We finally reach the school and walk in, We head our separate ways towards our lockers. I start to grab everything I need for history. Isabel shows up not long after.
"Hi." She greets me.
"Hey, do you wanna come to my place this weekend and maybe hang out?" I ask.
"Sure." She smiles. I'm glad she wasn't weirded out how I asked only after just meeting her.
"Cool." I smile back. I close my locker and head towards class. The one class I have with Luke. Okay. Act cool.
I go to sit down in the seat I sat in yesterday to find Luke already sitting in the seat next to mine. I smile as I make my way around the other desks to him.
"So we still on for tonight, you haven't forgotten have you?" He turns to look at me as I sit.
"Of course I haven't forgotten." I fake hurt at his accusation as I place my hand over my heart. We both burst out laughing to be shushed when the teacher starts class.

I walk to the back of the room in my next class, but I make sure to not sit in Ashton's spot this time.
The bell rings as soon as he walks in, he looks pissed. But I keep my mouth shut. He storms by me and sits down. Someone's moody.
"Ok class, today you'll be doing partner work with your textbooks." Mr. Morgan announces to the class, as he hands out a packet. This earns him groans from the entire class.
"You may pick your partners no more than two." He dismisses and sits at his desk. As soon as he does, everyone has a partner or group, leaving only me and Ashton...
Of course.
"I guess we're partners then." He looks at me.
"Yup." I say with no enthusiasm. I open my textbook and look for the answers to this packet. I can feel Ashton's heavy stare, and it's really annoying.
"Yes?" I ask flatly. He just shrugs his shoulders and focuses on his pencil. Better than me.
The rest of class consisted of Ashton looking at me, and me not getting much work done because of it.

Before I go to lunch, I drop my stuff off at my locker, I see Isabel waiting there, as soon as she sees me, she smiles and waves me over.
"Hi, I was thinking since we're going to be such close friends now, we should sit together at lunch." She says as I put my stuff in my locker and grab my book.
"Sounds great, I haven't found a place to sit yet though ." I smile back uneasily.
"We can just find a table in the cafeteria." When we get close to the cafeteria, it's awfully quiet.
We exchange looks and walk faster to see what's up.
We get there and I can't believe what I'm seeing. Well, maybe I can. Ashton and some guy are shouting at one another. I look at Isabel and she just shrugs.
"Someone's always fighting at this school.."
The fight seems to die down after we find a table near the back of the cafeteria away from all the commotion.

Finally, it was the last period of the school day, but I couldn't contain the butterflies swarming in my stomach. Just now, I realized that I never told Alex that he could go home without me since I'm going out with Luke.
I pull my phone out and hide it behind my bag.
E: Hey, forgot to let you know that I have some plans after school, so don't wait up
A: plans? on the second day of school? with who?
E: Don't worry about it, just making some friends
A: whatever you say, just be careful. we'll talk later
I put my phone away, I knew he'd ask for more details later.
Once the bell rings I go to my locker and Make my way outside to find Luke waiting by the doors. Once he notices me, a huge smile takes over his face, as does mine.
"You ready?" I nod and we make our way to his car. I had no idea where he was taking me, but it was kind of exciting.

We get into Luke's car, which was really nice and probably cost a fortune. We drive in silence most likely due to nerves.
Luke pulls into a pretty fancy restaurant and I already feel way underdressed.
"I'm not even dressed properly." I start.
"Neither am I, come on." He smirks back, jumping out to get my door. He takes my hand and leads me in. I silently pray he doesn't feel my hands shaking.
"Table for two." he smiles at the receptionist, she blushes looking down. She definitely has the hots for him.
"Right this way." She says leading us to our table.
"I'll be back with the menus." She says and Luke smiles at her as she leaves.
"So where did you move from?"
"Originally California, but I've lived in many states."
"How are you adjusting here?"
"Pretty well, I thought it'd be worse honestly." I look down.
Before he can dig more into that, the waitress comes back with menus.
"What would you like to drink?" We order and she leaves saying she'll come back for our meal orders.
"So, make any other friends?"
"Uh, yeah. I met this girl, Isabel. She seems nice" I say looking over the menu items.
The waitress comes back with our drinks and we order what we want to eat.
"I'll be back with that soon" the waitress smiles at Luke, staring a little too long.
Once we get our food, we sit in silence and enjoy the meal. It doesn't take too long for either of us to finish our food and soon we're leaving.
After paying for the check, we head back to his car and to my new house. As soon as we're outside mine, he turns to look at me.
"Thank you for tonight Luke. I had a good time." I smile shyly.
"Any time."
I say a quick goodbye and walk up to my door. I look back at Luke's car, he doesn't leave until I open the door. Alex and my mom were sat on the couch as I enter the front door both giving me questioning stares.
Before I would be bombarded with questions I squeaked out a small 'goodnight' before rushing up to my room.
I fall asleep, dreaming about tomorrow and what is to come.
