Chapter 3

Granno pulled Kear back to that room she woke up in. She had no will to resist. She couldn't understand what was happening to her at all. She was scared. This had to be a nightmare. She pinched her cheek as she sat on the bed. It hurt. This wasn't a dream.

"Are you sick?"

Granno said that to her as he felt her forehead. She could feel his hand warm up her forehead.

"Veno you are cold."

"Who is Veno?"

"You are."

"My name is Kear."

She had to tell him that. At least he should know her name.

"Can you tell me what planet we are on?"

"Planet? We are on earth."

"What do you mean earth? That planet was destroyed long ago."

"Veno should I call for Rin?"

"Rin? Who is that?"

"She runs the orphanage."

"Sure let me talk to the person in charge."

Kear looked around the room as she waited for Rin to arrive. She found a mirror within the room. She saw a brown eyed handsome young man. He had black hair, but there was a white streak of hair hanging over his right eye. His face had small masculine features, but enough to say that he was a young man.This boy looked the same age as that teenager Granno.

Seeing that, she inspected her body. Well it isn't her body, but a young man's. This has to be a hallucination. She covered her face, with her eyes closed, trying to think about it. If this was real and there wasn't anyway it was, she was in the body of a young man. This young man lived on the home planet of all of the human race. This body also couldn't hear, but that is probably due to her falling off the bed.

She felt a cold soft hand touch her arm. She looked and saw a woman in her early thirties. She had dark brown hair and sharp blue eyes. Her eyes were filled with concern, as she looked towards Kear.

Rin started using sign language. She understood it and followed along.

"What is wrong Veno?"

"Like I told that young boy, Granno, my name is Kear."

She started to feel Kear's head as if she was sick. Then she gestured for Granno to leave and he closed the door. It was just the two of them now.

"Do you know where you are?"

"No mam."

"Your name is Kear?"

"Yes mam."

"Can you tell me about yourself?"

Kear spent the next couple hours talking to Rin. Kear made sure to avoid anything specific related to the United Federation, just in case. She couldn't take the chance they were using something weird like this to trick her. Otherwise she told the truth as she is a translator and a woman.

When Kear mentioned she was a woman, Rin didn't make any movements. Nothing that it would indicate that it was strange. Either she is waiting for Kear to finish or she already knew.

Kear saw Rin ask her to tone it down. I guess since she couldn't hear, she was starting to talk louder.

Whether they were trying to interrogate her with hallucinations or whatever, she started to trust Rin. It was like talking to a therapist. She started to vent her worries as they talked. At least she will take this as real, until she can escape. If this is real, then she would need to live this life. She knew if she started freaking out they might lock her up.

Rin also took the time to answer her questions. She found out the year, 20XX. Clearly not using the star calendar years yet. The planet was earth; the country and city they were in.

Rin also took her time to tell her about Veno. It sounded more like she was trying to get her to remember rather than tell her.

Veno has lived in this orphanage since birth. Rin would be considered as this boys mother. Veno goes to school and when he is home takes care of the other children. Instead of waiting for a family to adopt him, he was planning to get a job and make a living in the world.

"I woke up and I fell on the floor."

"Did you hit your head?"

"Yea, but… wait you don't believe me?"

"It's hard to believe Ve… Kear. As you say that you are from the future. Even with all that you say, do you think that is something you could believe?"

"You're right…"

At that realization, Rin made sense. A woman in a boy's body, being from the future, even being in the military. Wait, she has knowledge that could prove it.

"I worked as a translator in the United Federation. I know how to speak and write many different languages. Does Veno know anything like that?"

"Sign language and this one I am talking with right now."

"Then let me prove it."
