I'll be bothering you

Yu Chen's gaze lingered at the locket as she said, "I couldn't think about what to get you. You guys are all so rich. And I couldn't get you a laptop like Zenghai, because you're pretty good at hardware stuff too. So I decided on this locket. One side holds your picture, in the other, you can put the picture of someone you love, someone you hold dear. I know it's a bit cheezy, but after all, I'm a girl."

She looked at Kio's pale face and said, "I'm not going to say wake up, because I know you hear that enough and you will do that whenever necessary. I just.....just...."

Her voice broke. Yu Chen composed herself, took Kio's hand and said, "I just hope you wake up soon. Everyone is waiting. I also have to show you how amazing I've become right? And destroy you in a coding competition."

Yu Chen heard the door open and turned around to see a Hua walk in, a nurse behind her.

Xi Hua put her hands on Chen's shoulders and said, "This is Kio's caretaker. She's here to administer his IV."

Yu Chen nodded and dropped Kio's hand.

Hua handed her a tissue. It was then that Chen realised that tears had streamed down from her eyes, wetting her face and even falling down on the front of her sweater.

She hurriedly wiped them off as Xi Hua said, "We can wait until his IV has been administered. You can talk after that."

Yu Chen shook her head and said, "I was done anyways."

She then turned around and said, looking at Mo Kio's face, "I'll be bothering you a lot more from now on. So make sure you're ready, okay?"

The two then headed out. As they sat in the car, Xi Hua said, "Where so you want to go next?"

Yu Chen looked at her and said in a small voice, "Can we go to your home for a while?"

Xi Hua was stupified as she did not give a reaction. Yu Chen noticed that her hands that were gripping on the steering wheel had turned white at the knuckles.

Yu Chen hurriedly said, "It's okay if you don't want to. I anyway met Aunty Xi. And Han will not be home, it's a weekday after all. Let's go home."

Xi Hua said nothing as she started the car and drove towards the apartment.

During the ride....

Yu Chen: "Hey Hua, I have a favour to ask of you."

Xi Hua: "Sure."

Yu Chen: "I was wondering if I could borrow your car after dinner tonight."

Xi Hua: "Yeah you can. But are you sure you wan to end up in jail just two days back?"

Yu Chen: "What do you mean?"

Xi Hua: "You don't have a driver's license of here. Right?"

Yu Chen slumped back in her seat, "Oh shoot. That's right. Forget it. Maybe I'll ask Xia to give me a ride."

Xi Hua chuckled, "How can a computer prodigy be so dumb sometimes?"

Yu Chen crossed her arms, "I guess it must be a side effect of living with you."

Xi Hua: "Come here you devil. I promise I'll not strangle you to death."
