I Want to Drink Your Blood

It felt like everything was a blur to him at this very moment. He had rushed a friend to the hospital with a condition he had no idea of. Sitting in the waiting room, he checked out the others that were with him.

The president and Vice president were sitting, appearing calm. Misei's constant shaking of her leg was the only giveaway to her true feelings on this matter. Erina was pacing back and forth in a fury. As if doing so would help him in any way. Meanwhile, Yuriko was off at the vending machine, grabbing a snack.

"So, how you feeling?" He couldn't bear to sit and wait so he started a conversation with Yuriko. In a sense, it was partially a way to get away from the others. Something about being with them stressed him out.

"I was just feeling hungry, so I'm getting some chips." She said. It wasn't what he was asking about. Did she not want to talk about their more pending problem?

"Yeah… I guess I haven't had dinner either." He reached into his pocket. Saddened when he felt the emptiness inside. "I guess I'm just not eating today." First lunch, now this. He was absolutely starving right now.

"Here." She offered the food, a small bag of chips to him. "I guess we can share." She said, straining her words. He appreciated the offer nonetheless.

"Thank." He took a chip from the bag. Having it in his mouth, this was probably the best one he had ever eaten. Especially since it was the first piece of food to enter his mouth since this morning.

"By the way, I've already called Akiba and Akaki. They should be here soon." She told him. "They had to help something at school, which is why they weren't at Yogi's earlier." He didn't think about it then, but without knowing. It was odd that those two of all people wouldn't check up on him.

"I wonder if I should get all of your contact information?" He wondered aloud. "It would be pretty useful in case of emergencies."

"Well you're not getting mine." She said. "Last time I checked, we're not really friends." A bit mean, though he figured that they haven't really talked. Along with the fact that she decked him at his house, not that he was mad about that or anything.

"It's fine if you don't want to. I was just suggesting it." Taking another chip, he heard the hospital doors open to reveal two familiar people. It was Akiba and akaki, running in with fear in their eye.

They ran straight to Misei, who filled them in on the situation. He was glad he didn't need to recount what he saw. Having to remember what he saw was already enough pain for one lifetime.

"...Yeah, we're just waiting for the doctor to come out and tell us what's wrong." He rejoined the others, along with Yuriko.

"I hope it's nothing serious." Akaki said. Keeping an optimistic outlook on the situation.

"I agree." Arata took another chip, to Yuriko's annoyance.

"I said we can share, not that you can have the whole thing."

"Is that really the problem here?!" He said. She was really cold-blooded about this. Perhaps she really wasn't as concerned as everyone else? Lucky for them, the answer they were searching for came to them in the form of a doctor.

"Hello, I assume you are all Mr. Aono's friends." He walked up to them.

"Yes." Misei took command of the talking for the group. "Is it possible for you to tell us what's wrong with him?"

"Ah yes, it's quite fortunate that you found him as early as you did." He explained. It turned out that the stomach pain that he was suffering was from Appendicitis. With the way he left it, the pain had caused him to pass out.

"I see…" Arata responded dejectedly. He felt guilty that he had allowed it to go that far. He should've pushed Yogi to seek help sooner.

"So will he be okay?" Akiba asked.

"Well we've already contacted his parents, we have the permission to go ahead with surgery. Unfortunately we ran into an issue in regards to his blood."

"His b-blood?!" Erina replied. To the others, this sounded like a question in fear for Yogi, rather than one from her hemophobia.

"Um, yes. It appears that he has O- blood. So we need O- blood, but the hospital is always running in short supply, due its rarity and importance. It's a shame that his parents are out of town right now. That would've been a good place for us to start looking." That did provide a problem for him. Especially with time being crucial so his health.

"That's a major shame. I hope that you will find a way to secure it."

"Yes, well we've contacted other hospitals in the area for aid. We hope that they have some to spare for us." Arata looked down in disappointment. He was geninuely worried about the state of Yogi, especially with this roadblock. Thinking about the bloodtypes, he was hit with a realization.

"Wait a second doctor. What if one of us donated blood?" He asked.

"Well that would be nice. We only need blood from one person to perform this operation. Except it would be useless, unless one of you had O- blood as well."

"Then that's perfect then, because Erina over here." He pointed over to her, making sure the doctor understood. "Is O-." The others looked at him in disbelief.

"Really? How do you know that?" Asked Misao.

"Uh, well it's not important how I know it. Just that I know it for sure." He tried to avoid the subject, remembering his promise to the nurse.

"But how can we believe you then?" Akiba looked at him, giving him a concerned face. "If you're wrong, then that'll really hurt him."

"Well actually we can check it to make sure. From the looks of it, she seems to be a high schooler, and we just got up-to-date information from the school's today." The doctor explained. It gave Arata a chance here.

"Thank, I know I'm not wrong, so please hurry."

"Oh course we understand the circumstances your friend is in. I promise we are working with to the best of our ability." Knowing that the doctor has probably said that many times in his career didn't fill them with confidence, but what else was there to do? "I'll go check to make sure, but in the interest of time. I'm also going to get a nurse to get you prepared." He directed his last statement to Erina, who had grown silent. She nodded in response.

He felt bad for her, knowing about her problem. At least it would probably help her get closer to Yogi. Wait, why was he thinking of that? That boy's life is on the line. Of course doing it for him should be the first priority. What's happened with him?

Yet at the same time he was conflicted with revealing that information. He knew she said she was really to do anything for Yogi. Except from the looks of this, it was quite near her limit, to say the least.

The doctor had already left, and more most in the room. The tension lowered, with what they though would be a simple operation with aid from Erina. Along with the knowledge of what had afflicted their friend calmed their nerves. The only people still nervous were Erina and Arata, for they knew the truth.

"Okay, so I was told that there would be someone I need to prep for a blood donation." The nurse was a familiar sight to them. It was Koume, the school student nurse. "Oh hello, I see we meet again for the second time today." She took notice of Arata and Erina immediately. Given the circumstances, this wasn't something she was looking forward to.

"Oh hi, I didn't think you would be here." He said. This was unexpected.

"Well I was helping out with making sure all the files for students were being updated. When I heard a student from the school was having a medical emergency, I offered to help right away." She explained. "So, um, it wouldn't happen to be Ms. Hayama, would it?"

"Yes, she is. Is there a problem?" Misei asked. Not understanding the reason for that tone she was going with.

"Oh no, it's perfectly fine. Anyway, please follow me Ms. Hayama. Also Mr. Kashimura, could you also come?" She asked, clear that she wanted to talk with him. "I actually needed to verify some things about your health and it's rather convenient you're here now." He could tell from the look on her face that she was lying, but explaining needed to be done.

"Yeah sure, I'll come too." He replied, ushering on Erina and followed the nurse. They reached their destination and Koume let Erina in by herself so that she could talk to Arata out in the hall.

"What were you thinking?!" She asked in desperation. "How could you let them know about that type of information. It's supposed to be private."

"I know, and I'm sorry." He apologized. "I only did it because I believed that it was the best choice. Yogi is my friend after all." He explained.

"But I really don't want to get in trouble."

"Don't worry, I didn't let them know how I got that information. Your secret's still safe with me."

"Okay." She responded, feeling relived. "But you know how she gets with blood."

"I'm sure she can bear it, right? Just for a little bit."

"You weren't there this morning, you don't understand." He was there for chasing her in the hallway after she saw his blood. He didn't think it'd get much worse than that, but she wasn't wrong about him not seeing her earlier. They did use a tranquilizer on her then.

"Well it seems like she's calm right now." He peered into the room she was waiting in. Erina sat on the chair, feet up curling herself. Perhaps as a way to keep herself calm for what was up next.

"She may look it, but there's no telling what she might do when I try to draw blood. And remember, unlike back at school. I can't do anything to alter her state, that was already against protocol then. We only did it to take advantage of the situation." She was adamant. As if their argument would change anything. However, with everything set, she knew that she had to follow orders.

"Listen, I trust you okay. If there was any nurse that would be doing this. I want it to be you." He told her.

"Me? But I'm no one special."

"Well you got her blood last time, and it's good that she gets a familiar face that understands her. So I think that it's best this way."

"Okay, thanks." She perked up a bit. "I promise, I'll do my best." She marched into the room. Her confidence raised just a bit higher. Arata headed away, going into the bathroom in the front lobby.

He washed his face, feeling the rush from the cold water hitting him. He wanted to take this private moment to gather himself and his thoughts. He kept telling her that he was doing what he thought was best, but it felt more like he was trying to convince himself that.

Logically speaking, it should be. Yogi needs that blood to help in this emergency. Erina just so happens to be the girl that matches him. On the plus side, Yogi might think of how important she was to him, enough to fall in love?

"No… Why am I still thinking that?" He placed both hands over his head. As if that would help the thoughts racing through his mind.

He felt guilty with that being part of his motivation for telling them. Was he really so selfish that he was motivated by that? He had no pure intentions with getting those two together. Was the desperation to escape his blackmail enough to override any sense of morality he had?

He breathed out, not feeling any calmer than when he walked in. If anything, he was even more tense than before. It was too late now anyway. At this point, he figured that Erina already gave her blood and this was going to be over.

Sadly it wasn't going to be. For when he stepped out of the bathroom to rejoin the others. A panicked Koume came rushing out to them.

"Is something the matter?" Akaki asked her, everyone could see just how concerned she was. She stopped a moment to catch her breath. Then she said something that made their hearts drop to the floor."

"Ms… Ms Hayama is missing."

"What? Erina is missing?"
