Chapter 32. Make Up

EVERYTHING fell onto its right places. That's how Timo felt after he and Jinny celebrated their first anniversary as official couple. Marami ring bumati sa kanila dahil nang araw na iyon ay nilinaw na ni Jinny na may relasyon nga sila. It was during Sunshine's Concert Tour in Iloilo, where she shouted that her solo performance was for him.

Dang. He wasn't there. He was at the Malacañang Palace that day, he's one of the media staffs who's present to hear the President's speech tackling some of the national issues.

Late nang natapos ang press conference kaya late na rin nang makarating siya sa Iloilo. Bago pa makalapag ang eroplanong sinakyan niya sa paliparan ay tapos na ang concert at nagulat na lang siyang maraming sumalubong na mga kapwa niya reporter sa kaniya sa airport.

"Congratulations! Are we going to hear the wedding bell ring soon?"

He was surprised back then. May kumalat bang issue tungkol sa kaniya?

A reporter from another station chuckled. She then browsed something on her phone and shown him a video clip. "This."

Si Jinny iyon, nasa stage, pawis na pawis na't nakatali ang buhok na mahaba na ngayon, at nakasabit ang gitara sa katawan nito. He's guessing that's from the concert earlier.

"I'm not going to be a rockstar foe a minute or two. I want to strum my guitar slowly, and sing a love song." Umugong ang ingay ng mga manonood. Jinny laughed and her laughter was already music in his ears. "I am serious. Though I think he didn't make it tonight because he's busy, I'm still going to dedicate this song to him."

The crowd cheered loudly. Tila inuudyukan si Jinny na kumanta na at ikanta rin ang tinutukoy nito.

"Hey, Timo... Happy anniversary!"

She immediately strummed her guitar in a slow pace while smiling so happily. The crowd that were loud slowly quieted down. As if they were more surprised than him hearing those words from his woman.

She started singing with her soft voice first, with the crowd's murmured slowly quieted down as they listened to her sang. But, when she already reached the chorus, she went loud, and the crowd started rocking with her, temporarily forgetting about her confession about their relationship.

"Damn..." tanging bulalas niya nang ilayo ng reporter sa kaniya ang cellphone. "Can I watch it once more?"

Nagtawanan ang lahat at nagsimula na ulit sa pagtatanong. But, he chose to excuse himself because he already wanted to ran and go to his amazing girlfriend.

Nang makarating siya sa hotel kung saan naka-check in ang banda ay tinawagan niya kaagad si Jinny. She only told him to go to the rooftop, and was told that she'd be waiting there.

Nang makarating ay napamaang siya nang nang makitang tila inupahan ang buong rooftop, may mga lobo at malamlam ang ilaw. There was a table for two in the middle of the rooftop. He didn't realize it was a rooftop bar and restaurant, and his woman exerted so much effort for them to celebrate their first anniversary.

Mabilis na nilapitan siya nito nang makita.

"Akala ko talaga masasayang lang ang lahat ng ito," kunwaring nakabusangot na bulalas nito pero hindi mapagsidlan ang tuwa sa mga nangungusap nitong mata.

He was speechless. He suddenly thought he should be the one who's doing surprises for Jinny. But he wasn't that type of a person, and he didn't even realize that she's into surprises like that one... Nakaramdam siya ng hiya at pagsisisi sa kabila ng kaniyang kasiyahan. Mukhang nabasa naman nito agad iyon nang magtama ang kanilang mga paningin.

"I was taught not to do the first move. Na dapat ay maghintay ako na gawin sa 'kin ang gusto kong mangyari." Pumantay ito sa pwesto niya at lumingkis sa kaniyang kanang braso. Napalunok siya nang magdainti ang mga balat nila. Hindi rin sinadyang nasagi niya ang dibdib nito dahil halos yumapos ito sa kaniyang braso.

His woman was wearing just a spaghetti strapped silky yellow dress. May ribbon iyon sa bandang baywang na humahapit sa magandang hubog ng katawan nito. At dahil nakasuot ito ng takong, ang dating hanggang baba niyang tangkad nito, ngayon ay umabot na sa kaniyang labi ang noo nito, sa bandang gitna ng kilay. And he could smell her intoxicating scent as well that's making him want to claim her mouth at that moment.

"Pero gusto ko talagang gawin sa iyo 'to. I always wondered how would you react if I do surprises like this. And guess what?"

"Hmm?" lutang na tugon niya.

"I'm glad I did." She smiled sweetly and contentedly. "Let's have dinner already? Baka gutom ka na," anyaya na nito sa kaniya.

"Jinny, binabaliw mo ako nang husto."

Humalakhak ito at nadiin lalo ang katawan sa kaniya. And that felt punishing, but he's not complaining.

"Ji..."

"Hmm? E, 'di mas maigi! Parehas na tayong baliw na baliw sa isa't isa no'n." Ngumiti ito at bahagyang tumingkayad para hagkan ang kaniyang pisngi. "Happy anniversary, love!"

Napalunok siya at natigil sa paglalakad. Tumigil din naman ito at siya'y nanatiling nakatitig sa mukha nito. She looked so lovely and gorgeous wearing a light make up, too. Though he preferred seeing her bare faced because for him, she's more beautiful naturally. Yet she's most beautiful when she's confident and comfortable with what clothes or what kind of makeup she was wearing.

"I prepared these weeks ago," pagbibigay-alam nito sa kaniya. "The foods to be served are your favorites as well. Lumpiang shanghai, spaghetti, cake—Happy birthday!" natatawang bulalas nito.

That was true. Those foods were some of his favorites. Note that it's not his birthday today. Next month pa. She only cracked that joke because what she mentioned were mostly birthday foods.

While gazing at Jinny lovingly, he came to realized she had changed a lot. She became more alive and freed from worries. She started going out from her comfort zone eversince they started dating. Patunay na iyon ang ginawa nito ngayon, pati na rin kanina sa concert. Damn, he'd do the first move soon. Baka mamaya, pati sa proposal ay maunahan siya nito.

They continued striving and he almost tripped when she suddenly said the words, "Magpakasal na tayo, Timo."

He grunted. "Damn, baby, I'm honestly embarrassed at the moment. Please, don't mention about marriage fir—"

"Ayaw mo na akong pakasalan?"

"Not that, Jinny. I'm saying to let me save those words for my wedding proposal..."

"Mag-propose ka na kaya ngayon?" she suggested. "I realized that Luella is growing up, she'll need you."

"What?"

Nawala ang ngiti sa labi nito. "W-why? I j-just thought it's alright with you if you father her. You two are close."

"Are you just saying you'll marry me so I'd be a father to her?" kunot-noong tanong niya, tumabingi rin ang kaniyang labi. Kahit alam naman niyang hindi ganoon ang intensyon nito ay hindi niya naiwasang matigilan.  Siguro dahil na rin sa naranasan niya kay Orange noon. But Jinny was different. She's not, and would never be that kind of a person.

Naguluhan ito sa pagbabago ng kaniyang reaksiyon. "Yes... and no."

Bumuntong-hininga siya at natauhan. Gusto tuloy niyang suntukin ang sarili.

"Wait... I think it's unfair to you," biglang usal nito, tila may napagtanto.

"Let's go to the table first," aniya. Hindi niya hahayaang masira ang gabing pinaghandaan at pinaghirapan ni Jinny para masurpresa siya sa kanilang unang anibersaryo.

"You're single, Timo, tapos biglang may anak ka na kung sakaling magsasama na tayo sa iisang bubong. Don't you think it's unfair? I mean... Uh..." litong-lito ito na hindi rin alam ang mga sinasabi.

"Let's not talk about that. Let's eat now, please?"

Natigilan siya nang mapansing nangilid ang mga luha sa mata nito at kumalas sa kaniya. Ni hindi sila nakarating sa mesa, ang lapit-lapit lang naman, dahil tumalikod si Jinny at patakbong lumayo. He was stunned because he noticed some of the staffs in there and they gasped when they saw her running. Malayo-layo ang mga ito sa lugal nila ni Jinny kaya may kutob siyang hindi naman sila narinig nang maayos ng mga ito.

Napapikit siya nang mariin at tinawag ang ngalan nito, subalit nakalulan na ito sa elevator.

"Hoy, Estacio! Gago ka ba? Bakit mo pinaiyak si Jinny?!"

Napalingon siya sa nagsalita. Ang nagpupuyos na si Bree na papalapit sa kaniya, lakad-takbo nitong tinatahak ang daan, nakasunod dito ang iba pang mga kaibigan ni Jinny.

"I'm sorry, this is just a misunderstanding. Please tell me where are you staying." He's asking, more like begging for them to tell him the exact floor and room number.

"Nineteenth floor," the bass guitarist, Milka, answered right away.

"Gago!" mura ulit ni Bree sa kaniya. He deserved that.

"Bree, tama na," si Acel iyong napansin niyang umawat.

He noticed their manager was already talking someone on the phone. Hinahabilin nito sa kausap na huwag hayaang lumabas ang nangyari at alam niyang tungkol iyon dito.

"Room 0610. Suyuin mo siya, magbu-book na lang kami ng ibang suite," it was the drummer.

"Wait!" it's the keyboardist. "Here's the card key. Baka nag-lock na iyon."

He uttered a thank you to them before finally going in the elevator. Dumagundong ang kaba sa kaniyang dibdib dahil hindi niya alam kung paano susuyuin si Jinny. They never had a fight because of a bigger reason. Palaging little misunderstandings o tampuhan lang.

He could only think of one best and effective thing—make up sex. But he couldn't do that to her. They never had sex after that night...

Pagkapasok niya sa suite ay tahimik ang lugar. Malaki iyon at tila pang-sampung katao kaya natagalan pa siya sa paghahanap kay Jinny. He made sure to lock the door, even the chain lock, too, before going in. After looking at the balcony, in some of the rooms, he heard the water was flowing from the shower in the bathroom inside the room near the balcony, and his heart skipped a bit when he realized she was there. Probably taking a shower. Naked.

Habang papalapit siya ay narinig niya ang iba pang tunog bukod sa paglagaslas ng tubig. Para siyang sinampal nang mapagtantong si Jinny nga iyon, at humahagulgol.

He didn't think of it anymore and immediately went inside the spacious bathroom. Nabungaran niya ito na nasa ilalim ng shower, nakayakap sa sarili at bihis na bihis pa. If he wasn't just feeling guilty and hurt seeing her that way, good luck to him because he's still having a hard on because of what he imagined when he heard the water flowed from the shower.

"Baby..." he called softly.

Lumingon ito sa kaniya at napansin niyang humulas na ang makeup nito.

"I'm sorry, Timo. I'm s-sorry talaga..."

"Why are you saying sorry?"

Mabilis na nilapitan niya ito at niyakap ng mahigpit. Baka kasi ginawin ito't basang-basa na pa naman ang suot na damit. Gusto niyang murahin ang sarili dahil sumasabay ang matinding pagnanasa niya rito sa kabila ng sitwasyong iyon.

"Pinangunahan kita—" Sininok ito. "Nagdesisyon na agad ako p-para sa 'tin... Dapat ay tinanong muna kita." Lumakas ang iyak nito at parang minaso ang kaniyang dibdib.

He gulped and he grabbed the shower head. He then gently washed her face as if he's caressing her. Tuluyang humulas ang makeup nito at namumula ang labi dahil sa panaka-nakang pagkagat nito.

Binalik niya ang dusta sa lagayan at pinatay ang shower. Hinuli niya ang baba nito at kinintalan ng magaan na halik.

"Magbihis ka na. Maginaw," aniya matapos niyon. Imbes na sundin siya ay nagsalita ito.

"I-I... Uh... just want to let you know that I want to marry you, Timo. Gusto ko kasi mahal kita. Hindi dahil gusto ko lang na maging tatay ka ni Luella..." her voice was a little husky now and he knew they both have the same effect for each other at the moment. Hindi lang siya ang nag-iisip ng makamundong pagnanasa gaya noon.

"Shh... I know, baby. Now, please go out and dress up. I'll just take a quick shower..." He needed to.

"Can't we take a shower together instead? I'm already wet and still didn't—" Ito mismo ay natigilan nang mapagtanto ang suhestisyon. "—I mean, m-mauuna na akong maligo. Maya-maya ka n—"

He chuckled a lightly as he cut her words by claiming her now cold lips. Damn patiently waiting... Damn after the marriage... He badly wanted her, and he would make love to her right now.
