Crown Princess selection 3

Five beautiful women all stood in front of a great congregation, smiling brightly. A month had gone by and it was the day to chose the crown princess.

Their etiquette had already been tested and two contestants stood out from the rest. Granted, all five of them were spectacular but Laila and Kaetrina stole the show.

Standing there in white traditional robes, they bowed to the divine emperor, the empress dowager and then to the people. All five of them wore veils only showing their mouths and Kaetrina's puckered pink lips were driving most men in the congregation insane. She was just too perfect.

The Divine Emperor stood and the whole place went silent. He took the crystal orb lying on a scarlet pillow presented by an enuch who bowed and backed away.

He stood in front of the first of the first consort, Nina. She bowed and placed her hand on the orb. It shone with a white light before slowly turning blue. The people cheered and went silent again.

The emperor moved to Adina and she did the same. The orb glowed white for a while before turning yellow. The people cheered louder this time and It was harder to hush them.

Pearl was the next person and her elixir root quality shocked them. It was gold. They were stunned silly when they saw it. They were too dumbfounded to cheer for her.

Laila was irritated when it was her turn but none of it showed in her demeanour. She placed her hand on the orb and it glowed green. The people cheered but out of courtesy. She grit her teeth as the emperor moved on to Kaetrina.

Kaetrina was beaming outwardly but sweating bullets inside.

'Will they kill me if they see my mutated evil elixir root?'

{I dunno. If you indeed die, you can reincarnated again, but that's the last time before you forget all your memories}

'I'm scared out of my mind. Isn't there anyway you can help me?'

{Nope little one. This is your cross to carry} he said before cutting off his connection with her.

When the divine emperor appeared before her, she felt a pressure that almost made her crumble but she resisted with all her might, which made the emperor raise his eyebrow in surprise. She gave him a bow and wiped her sweaty hands on her gown discreetly. She was that nervous.

With the immense pressure she was under, she hoped for the best and put her hand on the orb. It glowed blindingly white and started to change colour all the way from violet to bright red. The people gasped but it seemed like it wasn't done yet.

The sky darkened in an instant and started to turn red. The red colour in the orb was slowly turning crimson. Thunder rumbled in the distant and black lightening started to appear.

All over the world, this phenomenon was observed and every powerhouse in every continent observed it with fear, because they all knew what it meant.

The colour in the orb turned scarlet and the orb cracked. She removed her hand and every of the strange phenomenon disappeared like it wasn't there. When people thought it was over, a large red skull appeared in the skies and cackled loudly.

Others knew not the one that the voice belonged to but Kaetrina has heard the same voice ever since she awoke in that world. She sighed and gave a deep bow to the skull. When she did that, it disappeared and the clear skies were seen again.

Everyone looked at her in horror. She held her breath, her muscles taunt, waiting for the reaction of people and secretly finding a pathway to escape. She regretted her plan now.

The divine Emperor and the Empress dowager were shocked because they knew she had a red elixir root but not the legendary devil elixir root. Her soul was partially complete the other time so it was a normal red elixir root. Now that her soul was complete, her elixir root was too.

The elixir root qualifications were simply classified by the colours of the rainbow because they are given upon birth from nature.

The lowest quality is Violet. Indigo is a bit higher, followed by blue, then green, then yellow, then orange and the highest being red. Violet and Indigo elixir roots are very common and it's almost impossible to see people with higher quality elixir roots.

Some elixir roots can be mutated or evolved. These ones are even rarer than ordinary ones. Pearl's golden root is a mutated yellow root and her advantages surpass those of Adina. She cannot be compared with people who have Orange or red elixir roots. That's just how it is.

Kaetrina's elixir root on the other hand, is evolved. She can ascend to godhood with her quality of elixir root if she lives long enough. But she doesn't know that yet.

The divine Emperor looked at her with conflict in his eyes. If her chose to kill her, his country would be reduced to rubbles the next day because of a particular sect. If he left her, she would become more powerful than him soon.

He sighed and found her better as an ally than a foe.

"Princess Consort Kaetrina is now declared as the new imperial crown princess for our glorious empire!" The divine Emperor boomed and people stood and bowed. Her eyes widening in surprise, she felt as if a chain in her broke.

As he walked away, the people chanted "Long live the divine emperor!". A smirk appeared on Kaetrina's face slightly and vanished just as soon as it came.

The first part of her plan was completed. As she held the crown prince's hand in her own, her breath laboured because she was too excited.

According to the empire's traditions, the crown prince would have to spend a week in her chambers as a honeymoon per say. She was excited because she second phase of her plan would start soon.

In the night, she would start the procedure for turning the crown prince of a huge empire into her cauldron.
