Soon, it was Ya Nuo and Huan Hei's turn to show up in front of the guests. They walked up to the stage while holding each other's hand and smiled blissfully towards the audience. The host handed the microphone to them and let them give their opening speech.
Huan Hei took the microphone and began his long time planned speech, "Hi everybody! It is my pleasure to have everyone who are present tonight for Yang Ya Nuo and me, Xu Huan Hei's engagement party. I would like to thank those who couldn't make it here tonight as well. First, I would like to thank all of you for taking your time in signing our guest book as you entered. We appreciate every line of blessings and loving messages that were written. I would also like to thank all of you for coming to join us on our very special night. From here, I have a small request for all of you."
The crowd murmured curiously, wondering what he was referring to when he mentioned 'request.'
He turned towards Ya Nuo and continued, "I would like all of you to be my witness for my following speech to my lovely wife to be, Yang Ya Nuo. I want you all to be the witness of every word and promise I am about to say and make. If I don't fulfill what I will be saying, any of you may opt out of my future projects with no compensation to my company even if your company is bound by a contract. A businessman's words must be trustworthy or else he wont be successful. For female guests, please hold up your right hand and male guests, your left, if you agree to be my witness. Thank you."
Ya Nuo looked at everyone's hands raised straight and high into the air. Then, she focused back on Huan Hei, "Seems like you have a great reputation for everyone to approve you haha. Won't you lose a fortune if anything happens to us in the future?"
He smiled at her adoringly and brushed her baby hair gently. 'Before I answer that, I want to fulfill the promise I made to you during our previous meeting. I've wanted to tell you all these words, but obstacles delayed it till tonight. Here it goes. When we first met, your sparkling eyes captivated my heart. It is a lousy line that is overused and probably extremely cheesy to you, but I mean it. The beautiful pair of eyes that you have smiles with your silly smile, and I find that adorable. I've never met a girl as unique and daring as you. Of course, you're a foodie and a great joker. Before I met you, I had heard and seen people who met only once and ended up in marriage as quick as lightning. I personally didn't believe that falling for someone could be that easy, but after meeting you, I knew I would be struck hard. My heart only beats this fast for you. I don't even feel this nervous when I talk about millions and billions of dollars of contracts."
He placed her palm flat on his chest, where his heart beat. She smiled and eyes curved up as her lips did. He continued, "But at this moment, I still look as calm as ever. My pulse rate is probably around 120 by now. It's going to calm down soon, and I know that because I am holding you close to me. You are a gorgeous, amazing, and foodie type of girl, but in my eyes, I will always want to shield you from trouble and protect you with all that I have. Whenever I am by your side or you're by my side, my heart will race this quick at first, then, slowly calm down. This is how secure I feel whenever I am with you."
Ya Nuo's smile grew wider as he continued, "You're always happy in front of me, but I hope to become someone you could show all your faces to. I want to see you whether you are sad, happy, angry, hungry, and many more sides of yours. I don't know if miracles are real, but if it is, then you are my miracle. The amount of warmth and love I feel for and from you is beyond what anyone could see. Like my grandparents and parents, I wish I will be able to hold your hand till we get wrinkly and boney. But even when that time comes, I will still tell you how beautiful you look, and how grateful I am for being able to spend every second of our many years together."
Some married couples held each other's hands as they listened to his wonderful speech, while some wives or girlfriends patted their partner's shoulder indicating their dissatisfaction to them. Some were whispering words of envy and telling their partners to be like Huan Hei. Ya Nuo's face flushed as her eyes tears up and a lump started forming in her throat. She tried her best to hold back her tears before he finishes the speech.
His tone was as gentle as water, so soft, "I don't know how many years we have until we die, but I promise that I will use every second of my future to love you and spoil you. I remember you mentioning how much you loved princesses from Disney when you were young, but even now, you still have your little girl dreams. My response to you was that I would work my hardest to become your ideal prince charming. And here, I, Xu Huan Hei, promise to you that even though there may not be ever after, I will definitely try my 1000 x infinity % to make you the happiest. i may not have a magical fairy godmother, talking utensils, or a castle, but I do have my truest feelings and heart for you to keep. I will become your shield, glass slipper, beast, frog, and whatever else that relates to the stories that you love. And here, in front of my witnesses, will you, Yang Ya Nuo, be willing to marry me?"
He knelt down on one knee and took out a customized engagement ring that was rose gold with a carved rose made out of diamonds. Rose represented romance, love, and eternity. To him, she was his fated soul mate.
She felt her blood rushing through her bloodstream and though this speech is probably the cheesiest one she's heard for years, she was moved by his sincerity. These simple words may sound so plain and easy, but only they understood how meaningful each word in this speech really meant.
Ya Nuo thought that he would give her a short and simple proposal, such as kneeling on one knee and just asking her to marry him. Regardless of how he proposes, she would have said yes to him anyways because her heart had been set on him since forever. She thought of how crazy her wild yeses would be when he proposes to her in front of everybody, but now, she couldn't get a word out of her mouth. She parted her lips, gave her most natural smile, and held out her left hand.
He looked up and teased, "So that's a yes?" His charming smile alone was enough to win her heart. She nodded and happily said, "Yes."
The instant she replied, the crowd cheered and clapped their hands to congratulate their official engagement. He slid the ring onto her left hand ring finger, and pulled her in his embrace. He whispered, "I was so nervous that I'm sweating all over. Phew, thank you... for your yes."
Her hands wrapped around his back and she whispered with a bright smile on her face, "Silly, since the beginning, you've always been my yes."
