The Sealed Pearl

Shu Ren was still kneeling when he heard the Lord's lazy voice. "Shu Ren, that woman actually possessed a dragon pearl."

Shu Ren was stunned after hearing the news. He looked up to the Lord with a bewildered expression."is she also a dragon my Lord?"

"This king is not too sure about that. She was definitely a human, and this king can't sense any beast blood on her body at all." The Lord rubbed his chin with his index finger as he was speculating about the woman's real identity.

"My Lord, is she perhaps a Dray..."

"This king was her first and this king was sure that she is not a Drayeen from any of the dragon clan, and if she was, she would have died after violating the oath when we did it." The Lord berated him. He could tell what Shu Ren was about to say, so he cut him off.

Besides, this dark guard was usually clever and quick witted. Then, why would he suddenly become this stupid? He should also be aware of the pearl's matter too.

Shu Ren felt the scrutinizing gaze from their Lord. He realized that he had just make a stupid conclusion so he can only scratched the back of his head and asked, "Can the Lord tell which element does her pearl belongs to? Maybe this servant can narrow the investigation through that."

"No, the elemental force of the pearl was sealed. This king can't tell its element and aside from that there was also another force protecting the pearl and put a barrier around it." The Lord released a long sigh before he continued. "The elemental force used to set up the barrier was stronger than mine hence this King can't break it. So, I don't have any ways to examine the pearl."

Shu Ren was shocked to know that there was someone stronger than the Lord. Was it someone from the older generation? With the exception of those old monsters, no one in their generation can beat the Lord.

Shu Ren wanted to ask but saw the serious looked on the Lord's face. He was sure that the Lord must've thought of something, so he just waited silently.

The Lord was suspecting that she might have something to do with that man. Since the time they lost contact of that man and his most trusted aide, everyone in the Beast Kingdom were trying to find his whereabouts for the past twenty-two years. The worst thing was that, they can't even locate his wife and son.

The Lord could still remember how that man's aura felt like. Since the time he saw that man with his father, that suffocating momentum and aura was engraved into his bones. So he was sure that the elemental force used in that barrier was related to that man, considering that each of the elemental force has a unique aura and can't easily be copied unless you were a member of their family.

Now, the Lord decided to start their investigation from Rae Gu to find some clues. So, even though Rae Gu's background was shrouded with mystery, it's still worth a try.

"Shu Ren, This king orders you to be her guard and try to find out about her secrets. Also, she was now this King's Drayeen so keep her safe at all times."

"Yes, my Lord. This servant will definitely complete this task even at the cost of my life." Shu Ren capped his hand and bowed his head to show his acceptance of the task before he stand up from the floor. He knows that he needed to keep the mistress safe, as her life and death was now bound with their Lord.

"Also, teach her how to use this King's pearl so she could also protect herself when the time demanded for it. Now go, and don't ever leave her side."The Lord then waved his hand to remove the barrier. He wanted Rae Gu to know how to use the dragon pearl and learned some basic elemental attacks and defenses. At the least she would have an extra protection for herself. Besides, even if they have different elemental affinities, the pearl will let Rae Gu amassed the same elemental force as him.

"Yes my Lord. This servant will obey." Shu Ren bowed his head again before he exited the room.

The Lord was alone in the room contemplating about what to do inorder to break the seal on her pearl. He opened his palm and summoned the pearl.

Floating above his palm was Rae Gu's pearl. It was surrounded by a mist and at the same time a gold colored barrier surrounded the pearl.

"Woman, who are you really? How are you related to that man?" The Lord thought to himself and then retracted the pearl inside his body.

The Lord looked outside the window while leaning on the backrest of the chair. He thought about what happen that night.

After their union, their lives were now bound to each other. The Lord was sure that his pearl will transfer to Rae Gu as part of the oath but he never would have expected that Rae Gu also has a dragon pearl, so instead the Dragon Union Rites took place. So it means that their pearls merged their elemental force together.

This event will only occur when both of the parties were dragons. And what shocked him the most was that Rae Gu even knows about the chant for the rites that only dragons would know.

The Lord's brain was full of questions and doubts. But he could only set it aside for now, as he had some urgent matters that needs his attention.

The Lord looked down on his table and saw the letter from the palace. He opened the letter and read it. He smirked while his expression turned cold after reading the letter. He then burned the letter and started to read the reports.

Meanwhile...

"Tok, tok." Xiao Huli knock on the bathroom door. It has been an hour since their mistress took her bath. "Mistress are you still not done?"

"Xiao Huli, where is the mistress?" Xiao Huli heard a male voice from her back before she could knock again. She turned her head and saw who it was.

"Oh? Shu Ren you're here."

"I've gone to the mistress room earlier, but no one was inside. So, I came to find you."

"The mistress was still inside the bathroom. I tried to call her earlier but there was no answer, so i think the mistress must've slept inside so i was worried that the mistress might catch a cold."

Shu Ren furrowed his brows. He was having a bad feeling about this. "Did you check on the mistress inside?"

Xiao Huli shook her head, "No, we haven't, because we were told by the mistress, to not disturb her. But, I was just about..."

"Sh*t! Go inside and check." Shu Ren sense that something was off and ordered them to check the mistress.

"...Okay." Xiao Huli saw that Shu Ren was panicking, so she also got anxious and quickly opened the door.

They rushed to enter the room, but the mistress was nowhere to be found. They looked around and found out that the window was open.

"Oh Gosh, did the mistress actually escape?" Xiao Lang shouted and all of their faces turned pale. They don't know how to explained this to that demon lord.

Shu Ren's body trembled at the thought of their Lord. He didn't know how to face his wrath. The Lord has just given him the task to look after her and now she escaped. He really wanted to cry, and thought that this mistress should be the one to cause his early demise.

"Shu Ren, will we go and inform the Lord?" Xiao Huli looked at him anxiously.

"No, Inform the guards and find her. I will go and report it to the Lord myself." Shu Ren stormed out of the room and hurriedly walked towards the study.

On the other hand, someone was oblivious on what was happening throughout the manor and she was busy eating by herself.

Rae Gu really wanted to escape earlier but while she was trying to find the exit. She smelled a very appetizing aroma of foods. Her brain ordered her to go and escape, but her mouth wanted to stay and taste those foods.

Debating to herself, Rae Gu finally decided to follow her rationality and walked to find the exit, but after a few steps, her stomach grumbled non-stop. She stopped and looked back at the path where she smelt the food and also looked at the other path that might lead her to the exit.

Rae Gu rubbed her stomach and bit her lips. She was torn between the food and the exit. "Right! How can I escaped with an empty stomach. I might even die due to starvation along the road." She thought to herself righteously. So, Rae Gu followed the path to the food.
