The Saints Meet

In front of the wizards and witches from the Hall of Righteousness, on top of a platform on the fourth floor of the hall, a man in his seventies stood. The man had a light countenance with grey beards. He was a chunky man with average height. The beautiful round bald on his grey haired head combined with his long nose made him look funny yet handsome. The long blue robe he wore made him look noble.

"Dear friends," With a clear but deep voice he began, "It is out of the norm to invite you here, especially at this time of the season. You all know it has to be for a serious reason. Fellow people of magic, you are aware that this hall was established mainly to help Odainers in their missions. Since it was established, it has served them well until recently when the Lord of darkness found a few ways of dealing with us."

"Not long ago, the one with the book, a man whose prophecy has transcended time appeared. We invited him here without knowing he was one. The Saint Witch guarding the three compartments revealed that he was the person after he almost died here. This man was being used by the Lord of darkness to trace the Ordainer without his knowledge. We performed the cleansing ritual to cleanse him of the dark world's spell but it seems we were late already. As we speak now, the Ordainer has been abducted by the people from the dark world."

At this point, he stopped speaking to let the crowd sink the message he had just delivered in. As expected, a commotion broke out. The witches started crying wondering what they would do while the wizards wondered how tough things were getting. The ambiance of the hall changed.

As the head just said, the responsibility of these chosen witches and wizards was to take care of the Ordainer in one way or another until he met his death. They were like servants assigned to look after the Ordainer and they would be loyal to him no matter what. His failure meant their failures as well. This was not something they were really willing to accept.

After the witches and wizards calmed down, the head cleared his voice before saying,

"I have just gotten a message from the general guardian of the Halls of Righteousness, the Great Saint. He has said that this is an event that was never expected by even the One from above. It seems the enemy is prepared this time and our mission alongside the Ordainer is going to be harder and loaded with danger. He said the One from above has not addressed them nor told them anything to do with this, but they are waiting for him for his arrival can be any time from now. Because this is a grievous matter, you are asked to forget about whatever things you were doing and wait for the Great Saint to appear."

After he finished, he went down where the others stood and crossed his hands in front of him below his belly. He then lowered his head and kept quiet for the rest of the time. The entire place fell deathly silent. Only heavy breaths could be heard from time to time.

...

The One from above had never actually appeared before humans nor the saints. The person that the saints regarded as the One from above was actually a heavenly messenger who was also one of the five remaining brothers in the heavens. This person was the youngest brother amongst the six and was known to be the bridge between the saint land and the heavens.

He was known as the Heir of Communication amongst his siblings. Of course those belonging to Keniya did not even have an idea how this messenger looked like for he never appeared in their presence. If there was something he needed to communicate to them, rituals had to be performed. No matter how powerful these rituals were, the messenger only sent dreams or appeared in form of animals or even ancestral spirits, never in true form for that was disastrous to those living on land. The only humans who got the opportunity to see him personally were the Ordainers, who met him after the Ordainers were completely ready for the work at hand.

The saint land was just somewhere in the firmament. The saints lived sparsely in this land and they hardly saw each other not unless they had certain relationships. Wizards lived close to wizards, seers close to seers, and so on and so forth. That provided an opportunity for meetings which was also rare. These people had lived their lives serving humans and being in the saint land was a reward for a job well done. Most of them took time to enjoy what the firmament brought. They never had time for each other and most never took part in worldly affairs. Though, because they were to help in bringing mankind to higher realms of life, they used their gifts when called upon by the messenger. Their help was however limited to matters concerning the Ordainers. After all, those were the people born to help mankind and helping them ment helping the entire Keniya.

Today, for the first time all the saints were gathered under one roof. Each saint had been personally invited here one by one for there was no mechanism to gather them at once. The Heir of Communication used his special means to make sure they were all here. The palace belonged to Great Saint who was also the general guardian of the Hall of Righteousness. One thing worth mentioning is that he was the general guardian yet he did not even know all the other guardians of the Hall of Righteousness. The servants had not even got time to prepare the palace conference hall before every saint was here. They were asked to be there as fast as possible for there was an emergency that would not wait.

Most saints were pleasantly surprised to meet friends they had while still living in Keniya. They were all catching up with each other most of them not being aware of what was happening. Only a few wizards and seers had been made aware after all.

Suddenly,

Bright light appeared in the room blinding their eyes. A gentle breeze started beating their bodies as beautiful metallic melodies entered their ears. Their breathing became slow but comfortable. None of them had ever felt that way before. When the light dimmed a little bit, they saw a peculiar figure standing right in front of them. They all had never seen such a strange person in their life, be it in Keniya or in the saint land but one thing was for sure; from the figure's aura alone, they knew this was the most powerful person they had ever met. Not even the One from above they have met before was that powerful!
