In the future when virtual reality is real, one man that lost everything is going to make a new life. Jonathan Partley was a 32 year old man when his life got turned around. He got fired from his job and got divorced with his wife taking everything. But when the new VRMMORPG game “Dark Light Online” comes out he try’s to turn his life around.
Have you ever wondered if some being of a higher power messed with your life? I sure have. It all started when I walked in on my wife cheating on me with a kid no younger than twenty. I kind of just dumbly stood there not believing the love of my life who I have been married to for more than 4 years was with some other guy. They noticed me after a little bit and the guy jumped off the couch while my wife just screamed at me.
"WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING HOME!?" she screeched.
"Well, I got fired so I came back home early to surprise my loving wife." I calmly said bottling that burning hatred deep inside so this situation didn't escalate. "And when I walked throught that door I found my wife fooling around with some dumb 20 year old."
"Hey I'm in college!" the boy toy said not really understanding what was going on. "That's it I can't deal with this shit." I said while I grabbed my HOD (Holographic Ocular Device) and left going to the nearest bar.
While some people may think that was the worst day of my life they are wrong, the worst day is when I came home a day later and saw a letter from my wife saying she wanted a divorce. There were signed divorce papers under it which I signed and mailed in.
The next weeks were awful, in the court my wife got almost everything, everything that I bought with my money. All I got to keep was my car, which I then sold for money to live on. In the 22nd century everything was expensive, a bottle of water was 20 credits, the one good thing is that the world was now under a unified currency called credits. A credit was probably worth the same amount as one dollar in the 21st century. After I sold my car I managed to find a job but it didn't pay a lot, it only payed minimum wage which was about 230 credits a hour, but it was enough to live by. The car money I used to buy a little apartment in the city, it was about 400 square feet, which was pretty big. I thought that I would be fine and I would gain money and rebuild my life, but little did I know my horrible life was just getting started.
