Principal

Because the Measurement orb broke, there was a lot of commotion coming. First only the surrounding ones started muttering, then Wert left me alone - exposing me to all the questions. Making it to levels above twenty five in this time was remarkable, but the most surprising was the amount of people coming and their questions.

None of them asked: 'How did you do this?' How it would be expected. Thirty people gathered, out of different standings, different ages and different magic. All of them looking at me with big eyes, waiting for me to tell them why I 'have been holding back all this time' and who 'that teacher' is. Refusing to talk to them I nod, shake my head or roll my eyes, depending on the question.

I don't remember how many minutes later it was, but it had to be at least half an hour, but Wert came back. An old person behind him. As Wert always has a reason to do what he does, so this cannot be a random old man. Let me see through the options: An old acquaintance, someone to value my real level or someone who has access to better orbs. Maybe more than one of that list.

W:" Cecil, please follow us."

Still surrounded by strangers I don't want to talk, so I nod and follow them. Our way lead us to a small path behind the training areas. Even though I passed by this place every day to get here, I never noticed this path. Wondering why, I start to look around trying to find something I remember. Nothing.

?:" Don't worry, boy. Only a small amount of people are able to spot this path the second time they visit. Spotting it the first time is basically impossible, which makes it so perfect for its purpose"

W:" Principal Merlin, you just want him to ask questions, just tell him already."

Merlin:" Fine! Can't let the young one have some fun... It is a countermeasure for thieves for the main instance. We keep valuable orbs and scrolls here, so I would ask you to keep shut about this."

Ce:" Sure."

Me:" Where have I seen this silent behaviour... I see why you chose him Wert. He is indeed similar, but I doubt that your conclusion is right."

Ce:" Huh?"

W:" Don't mind him, he is baffled by the things you could do in the future. A specialist at this level is rare as it is, but at your age at that..."

Me:" You don't want to tell him, I see."

Okay, I wanted to ask questions. But I had no specific question and I doubt they would answer me even if I did. Unwillingly I follow them further, my curiousity knocking onto my skull. Damn it, I have to ask!

Ce:" What was his reason to choose me then?"

W:"... Your behaviour basically. There was a person behaving the same way, but he was thrown off of the right path too soon. I hope you don't meet him."

Ce:" Who is it then?"

Me:" That my little student, is something not for you to know yet."

His voice was loud and decisive. He looked at Wert with a cold gaze, making the calm Wert flinch.

Me:" Well, we are there know. We just have to open one more door."

After minutes of distraction I notice the difference of my whereabouts. We reached something that looked like a small village, but most of the houses were warehouses - to be exact I only saw one house not looking like one. The principal explained that it was his house, whilst telling me not to open any door he didn't tell me to open. It seems some of the houses were traps, which makes sense with such valuable goods. Knowledge of the scrolls and spells archived here was immeasurable, leaving the orbs out of account.

Me:" Here, try this orb."

His voice remained calm and didn't change at all, even though he carried an orb bigger than his own body. Those orbs were ancient remains of dwarves, the metal was unknown aswell as ungodly heavy. For him to lift it without breaking a sweat was insane, he had to be using mana enhancement.

As I lay my hand on it, it lights up gray again. The light gradually gets brighter and the screeching sound appears once again. My specialist mark glows up aswell, it starts to move and gets bigger. It now covers parts of my chest aswell, while my hand went from marked to completely black.

But the further up the mark goes, the more blueish it looks.

My chest is marked in light blue and around my heart there is a pattern. It consists of several circles, all piercing each other and a sword, coming from below and going through the middle of the circles.

Me:" Exactly what I expected, your body is being dragged behind your magic. You might have trained, but your body is still too weak to keep up. I know outsiders think mages don't train their bodies, they are wrong in the core. Above level twenty your body keeps you down."

W:" The mark you gained sure is a sign of strength, but the symbol on your heart... Let us just say the circles symbolise your power to be sealed. Your power is around 32 points, it suffices for third year. Put on you disguise and enter that class. Train your body and mana - then you will get Merlin or me to teach you again"

Woah... My body sealed my own power. Would I have died if it didn't? Wert didn't tell me, but that is probably why he healed me even when I wasn't damaged.

Me:" Oh and before I forget. Take this diguise" He throws a talisman to me "It isn't as known as your last one"

Yeah, killing another students does get someone famous. Especially if you don't get punished.

C:" Won't they notice my magic?"

W:" How would they? They just saw a sword. They think it was an untalented mage - so why wouldn't he just use a weapon. Secondly, you're not going to use your magic in class anyway."

Makes sense. Using this magic probably trains it, if it is really bound to my body and emotions. Wouldn't that make people suspicious? A magic student not using any magic, seems like a failure. Wait...

C:" If I'm not using magic won't-"

P:" No they won't. In third class there is many students unable to contain their own skill. We will tell them the truth and say you reached that stage early."

Makes sense. Strong magic requires stronger essence, to obtain strong essence your body needs to survive it. In first class no training still suffices. Now, even my strength keeps me down.
