Rong Lihua remembered the first day of her life. It was 19 years ago, she was only 52 years old.
Everything from before that was a blur.
Waking up in a hospital after being involved in an accident, Rong Lihua did not remember her name or age.
Laying in a hospital bed alone, with suffocating bandages covering her tingling arms, legs, and face, Rong Lihua could not even tell if she was still alive.
After being in the hospital for more than 3 months with her only visitor being a pair of nurses who would take care of her, Rong Lihua was beginning to feel as if she was in hell but one day, he came...
A boy of handsome features and dark black hair, who despite not smiling looked like the friendliest soul on the planet.
Seeing him made her feel at ease but she did not know why.
"Hello, my name is Kang Zhi," The boy said politely.
Coming close and sitting on the bed, Kang Zhi gently touched the woman's face. A face that was once pretty was now melted and scarred. If Rong Lihua remembered the way she had looked before, her own face would have made her cry.
Thinking about this, Kang Zhi frowned, before he said, "Do you remember anything?"
Even when trying to, Ring Lihua could not remember anything and any time she tried harder than her limits her head would begin to hurt, her heart would race and her burns would feel as if someone was peeling off her skin.
Seeing her discomfort, Kang Zhi put his hand on her shoulder. "It's okay. You don't need to remember. I'll keep you safe, I promise."
After saying this, a woman knocked at the door.
"Zhi..." the woman said as she peered through.
Seeing the woman, Kang Zhi smiles softly, held out his hand to the girl and said, "Anna, come here."
Anna did as he said.
Once by his side, Anna squeezed his hand lovingly and Kang Zhi did the same to her.
Kang Zhi: "Is Alina back yet?"
Anna shook her head. "She'll be back soon. She went to buy some Lily's."
Once Anna said this, a woman walked through the door carrying a bouquet of flowers. She had long wavy hair which cascaded down her back like a waterfall and big black eyes which could pierce a person's soul.
Once inside the woman's eyes landed on Rong Lihua who was bandaged up but wide awake.
Seeing Rong Lihua look at her, tears began to flow down the beautiful girl's face. Throwing the bouquet Kang Zhi's way, she then ran up to hug the woman gently.
"Mom!" The girl cried.
Hearing this, Ring Lihua had the urge to cry herself. She didn't know the girl in her mind, but the touch was so familiar that she could not deny that this girl was her daughter.
Seeing this, Kang Zhi sighed. "You are... Rong Lihua and these are your daughters, Rong Alina, and Rong Anna..."
Hearing this, Rong Alina turned to look at Kang Zhi with a confused expression. As the two looked at each other, Rong Lihua couldn't help but look at them.
The boy and the girl looked alike while Rong Anna did not resemble either. It was strange but Rong Lihua did not say anything.
The weeks and months following this meeting, Rong Anna and Rong Alina visited the woman almost every day. Meanwhile, Kang Zhi visited the woman sporadically. When he did he would always talk to her about things he would deem 'important' and she would listen to him without complaint.
Even after he prepared a home for her, he still came to visit.
After all these years she barely learned anything about him with the exception of his name.
For some reason, even if she didn't know much about him, she felt as if he could be trusted with her life.
One day, the man came with a sullen expression. Seeing this, Rong Lihua looked at the boy intently and said, "Is everything okay?"
Kang Zhi touched his temple. The man looked completely drained but he still pushed on. Looking at Rong Lihua he smiled and said,
"Nothing. Just, uh... family."
As she made some tea, Rong Lihua smiled. "Family? How is your family? I would love to meet them..."
Hearing this, Kang Zhi frowned.
"Stay away from the Kang's or at least, don't approach unless I say so. Especially not the elders..." The man's voice contained a significant and seemingly fatal warning.
At this point, Kang Zhi was still young. Not even 30 years old yet so Rong Lihua frowned and began to scold the man,
"Didn't they give me this house? I can't just not—"
"No!" Kang Zhi said.
Seeing that he sounded a bit too rough, he apologized.
"Don't worry about thanking them, I'm the one who got you this house. They don't know... And either way, If anything ever happens to me, I'll make sure my younger brother takes care of you. He's a good kid... even if he might not know it," Kang Zhi looked out the window and sighed. "If I don't become the heir, I'm sure that he will... either way, you should be safe."
That was years ago. And to both her and Kang Zhi's misfortune, something did happen to him... Thinking back at it now, her head began to hurt.
"Li Jing...? how is this possible!" Grandma Lu said with pain spilling from her lips as she looked over the woman's many injuries.
Her younger half-sister was alive? Looking at the woman, she couldn't believe it but the voice was something Grandma Lu would never forget.
Looking at Grandma Lu groggily, Rong Lihua felt the familiarity rush through her but because of the intense pain it caused her mind, she chose to reject that feeling. It was the same one she had felt when she met Elder Kang for the first time, but this time, it was much more painful.
"N-no... I am Rong Lihua..." Rong Lihua said with a stutter.
Looking well at Rong Lihua, Grandma Lu's face twisted. "That's not possible... Li...What happened to you...?"
Hearing this, Grandma Lu looked deeply at Rong Lihua and began to approach her but Rong Xin blocked the old woman's way. Seeing this, Grandma Lu wasn't angry. She was still consumed with too much shock.
Looking as the two sisters interacted, Elder Kang felt his heart suffocate him.
In the week he stayed with Rong Lihua and the kids as Kang Jun and Lu AnLing were in France he did not notice that she was Li Jing at all... But in his difference, the woman always mumbled when she was around him or avoided him altogether...
He just thought she disliked him.
But right now he couldn't be mistaken. That was surely Li Jing's voice. His Li... this Rong Lihua was his Li?
How was this possible...
This should end quite quickly. Though not end-end, since Rong Lihua still has no memory of them, but a compromise should be reached. Though will everyone like this compromise? I have no idea!
