The Freshers' Welcome Party (4)

When Lili got her senses back, Aaron was still holding her tightly in his embrace with no plans of leaving her.

She tried to wriggle but he tightened his grip around her forcing her to stand there.

Strangely, she then lifted her arms and draped them around him.

Sensing her reciprocation, Aaron burried his face in her hair, breathing her heavenly scent in.

Lili pressed herself further to him and they just stood there in each other's embrace looking not two, but one.

After a long time, Aaron finally loosened his grip around her and looked at her with affection mixed with repentance, the same look Lili had witnessed on his face the last night.

Then he lifted one of his arms to hold her face while keeping the other still hugging her waist, holding her near him.

He lightly caressed her cheek with his thumb and stared into her eyes, his mind in dilemma.

We were meant to meet.

We were destined to be together.

But at the same time, I caused her so much pain in her last life.

I couldn't give her peace.

I love her.

But it's dangerous for her to be with me.

Aaron just couldn't convince himself to let her go, however hard he tried.

On the other hand, Lili was feeling so many feelings at the same time.

Why do I feel so good while held by him?

Why do I feel this weird sense of security while being with him?

Why do I feel that my soul, my heart, my every single breath...have been treasured by the almighty for very long, just to return them to this man in front of me?

As if I had lived all my life for him. I had taken birth to complete something, to change something... something related to this man, which perhaps dated back to centuries?

They continued to stare at each other, both their hearts in a pure mess.

Then after who knows how long, Aaron closed his eyrs and pressed them tightly as he took a deep breath. He also clutched Lili's dress with the hand on her waist as he balled his fists. His hand on her face pressed lightly on Lili's cheek. Then he opened his eyes to look at Lili, his eyes with determination.

Aaron: "Stay away from me, I am bad. I am not worthy of you."

Lili: "..."

Aaron: " I might seem good but being with me is dangerous for you." Aaron pressed more on the issue when he found Lili's gaze grow disbelieving and sceptical.

"No..no.. you are not.", Lili whispered.

Aaron's eyes grew wide as if he was in shock.

"Of course I am, you foolish girl. How much do you know me? How much have you.."

Aaron withdrew his arms around her suddenly which made her stagger slightly towards the back.

Has she lost her brains?

I was the one who had practically killed her, and she is not even the least wary of me.

Rather, she still has the courage to have so much faith in me.

"Yeah, you are right but I.."

Should I say about what I feel about him?

That I feel a strange connection between us?

That I feel an invisible force drawing me towards him?

He must think me superstitious or paranoid if I do so , right?

"You what?", Aaron looked at her with bewildered eyes.

No, I shouldn't tell him right now.

I shouldn't be trusting him so much, after all today is the first day I am having an actual conversation with him.

"I get the exact opposite feeling while being with you. I feel safe, protected and...warm".

Lili lowered her head and whispered.

Aaron's eyes were once again whirlpool of emotions, which covered the innermost depths of his eyes where he hid his true feelings for her.

His breathing nearly stopped and he felt choked by her words as his resolutions of staying away from her dwindled once again.

"Listen, I don't know who's good for whom as neither of us know each other, just as you said."

Lili gulped unintentionally as she thought about what to say next.

"I don't even know where things are driving at...

But please, let's not think about the consequences and just be ...
