binged everything I could without an account, then made this account to defend the author's choice of making him racist 1. it's normal. humans are tribalistic and will discriminate against those they think are inferior. 2. it's not good. in fact it's horrible that people in real life are like this. 3. The author shows that they disagree by giving the main character a dilemma about it, and making moral issues about it for the main character. Julius is what you get when you have an influential traumatized person looking for someone to blame. It adds so much character complexity and I love it. i just sincerely hope no one romanticizes this behavior. racism is bad. (Julius is learning. ) sorry for leaving such a long paragraph. i don't think anyone even really cares that he's racist at this point but there's at least someone who is being judgemental without considering how real people work and I will defend character complexity til my dying breath thank you for bringing this story into the world.
