Started reading this when it was translated for the “trial read” years ago and was disappointed that it didn’t get picked up despite a couple of red flags. So when they picked it back up, despite the terrible AI translation, I was happy to read this novel. I was very disappointed. There are a lot of issues with the story. The “cheat”, his phone, is basically just an excuse to have plot armor. The functions of the phone are explained at the beginning of the novel and promptly forgotten. He barely uses it except for when the author feels like it and decides to pull out some random new ability that was not explained previously and that will be forgotten as soon as it fulfills its immediate function in the story. The story has no sense of initiative, just a series of events happening to the main character with almost no agency on his part. Speaking of the main character he’s not very likable, refusing to take a female cultivator as his master because he does not “bow down to women”, despite her being immensely powerful, kind and generous, saving his clan from extermination and offering him discipleship despite his lack of outstanding talent. Of course this says more about the author, who spends a whole paragraph describing how beautiful she is every time a new female character is introduced. Also the female lead’s only personality trait is being blindly devoted to the MC.

Let me quote from chapter 922: “The Kill Food Sky Butterfly only released its Creation Breed aura and did not direct it at anyone. However, the immense aura crushed all the buildings in Ascending Dragon City until they were only five meters tall.” This is one of the largest cities in the federation by the way. And when the guardian of the city confronts him he uses his master’s name to escape punishment lol

He doesn’t need to hit her, making her the head disciple is already the worst punishment possible

Such bad luck, just 40 years earlier their super genius head disciple was schemed against by the heavenly path sect, so as soon as the yuhua sect finds another super genius they publicize it by immediately making him head disciple… It would be terribly unlucky if they somehow came across a third incredibly talented person and let the heavenly path sect find out… oh wait

Isn’t the entire point of his proficiency panel that he can level up his techniques just by grinding without having to rely on his talent and comprehension?

Lucky draws are just a lazy way for the author to give him exactly what he needs whenever he needs it 🥱
