Review Detail of Ferzd in Advent of the Three Calamities

Damn, this is probably the best novel I have read on webnovel. I was skeptical at first since the title was pretty eh and the synopsis was generic but damn I was pleasantly surprised. Good points: The MC is multidimensional. (Which is extremely rare in this platform) The writing quality is phenomenal. The writing felt very immersive and hit the emotional beats pretty well. But by far the best point about this novel is how this novel takles emotions and how it explores them. Many authors especially in the fantasy genre tend to stay away from emotions as they are hard to write and make the main character look weak and "beta" to the edgy teenagers that make up the majority of demographic. This story does the opposite and explores emotions and memories in a very interesting way. Bad points: The magic system is generic. It's not awful but it certainly isn't something too interesting too think about. The world itself is also pretty meh. (Of course this may change since this story is still pretty new.) But as of chapter 162~ the world doesn't feel that unique from many other modern-medieval fantasy stories. I think a little bit more world building would be better but then again it's not a story about the world but the characters so this point is not very important. ... Now some other miscellaneous points: 1)Your previous book TAPOV was.. in the nicest way I can put this.. not that good. The characters were very bland and boring. But this story has decent character writing and good dialogue it's a huge improvement from the previous one. 2) Correct me if I am wrong but I think you took inspiration from "SSS class suicide hunter". Especially the tragic beats of the story are written in a somewhat similar way to it. This is in no way a complaint as I think it's done amazingly. It's just an observation. ... In conclusion, I think this story has a great story, decent characters, a likeable protagonist and alot of potential. World building and magic systems could be improved upon by making it more nuanced but that's not that big of a problem. I think the story has fantastic pacing and overall is a really fun read. I am curious where you take this. Thank you for writing, author. I hope you excel. ... 8.5/10. Love it.
