I appreciate the criticism, I went for a time skip because I felt that readers wouldn't react well if I did massive infodumps at the start of vol.2 but maybe trying to feed info while simultaneously keeping an action pace hurt consistency a little. Also I burnt out a little, that's why I took a break. Rest assured that when i resume regular updates in a couple weeks the framework will be much more thought out and I'll slow the pacing a little for vol. 3.
folklore is fascinating and a good way to make a world feel "alive", using familiar tropes in new ways, thank you!
You'll see the scaling in volume 2, Outcasts have an advantage over mages in that they can't be directly touched by mana but there's a lot of ways to fight them, I expand the power system there
amon has given everyone ptsd 😮💨
That's not a big risk for them as you'll see
Jane is very inexperienced in the field and ok the rest was a bit cliche but these exist for a reason.
Marcus is very sensitive to losing loved ones and Lucius clearly targeted Vicky, he stays on objective and trusts his team
there's a protocol about it that you'll see in a few chaps
short girls exist 😂
You'll see by the finale of vol. 1, which will also explain why Outcasts are called so, but let's just say that any activities from Those Behind The Veil go unnoticed to normal people even when on their side or the the Veil (you'd have to do something massively destructive for them to notice and it would also affect them if they saw in a way)
