Of course, a voice inside his mind answered with firm conviction. With him there, nothing would have happened, and Chen Ru would have still been alive and kicking by now. Song Zhuyu wouldn't have allowed anything to harm him. No, maybe he shouldn't have allowed Chen Ru to follow him here in the first place. He was fully aware of the danger this island would bring forth, so he should have turned Chen Ru away at the train station despite the risk of offending both Chief Song and Father Ning.

The rest of the words became stuck in his throat when he belatedly realized how absurd they sounded.
