When Nanami and the others were facing Jogo, Itadori had just defeated Choso and had expanded his domain to devour Haruta and found the curse right after he burned them. He didn't get involved in the event, and consequently didn't prevent Nanami and Maki from being burned.

You can see it that way, no problem. I only put him at that level because he hasn't mastered reverse cursed energy and doesn't have such a perfect domain.
