You’re reading a fanfic so cliches are bound to appear I even made a gag saying how he’s a cliched protagonist. But, i believe Danzo obstructing them was clearly Explained in the story. I've seen a lot of people having an issue with the arc against the root, but the only person who conversed in that arc was Shikuro. Now, Shisui was a member of the root so are you implying he never smiled or spoke normally? He did, reason being they were adept and quite powerful in their fields before Danzo acquired them as root anbu. Making them not go through the usual root training and giving them more control over their emotions. Shikuro was a same case. Noone else spoke or conversed in that arc other than him. And as for revealing plans, he did none, he only did reveal his source when he thought he killed Kyo. To ignore all the positive aspect of the story and rating solely based on few stuff felt a bit harsh to me, but it’s fine.
