It's been some months since I've rediscovered the Holy Blue Grenade, and aside from my usual training, I have started to spar with some of the last years to get used to combat, and I have made some startling improvement in that regard, apparently the most important part of melee combat is being aware of the space, the empty one. It goes like this : If your enemy isn't touching you, then the space he's occupying is practically useless, so instead of being wary of where he is, you should pay attention of where he could go, ergo, empty space, space where he can move to get to you, either through brute force, misdirection, or anything else, before you're able to react in a meaningful way. THAT, is the essence of close ranged combat, and that realization brought me to sparring with faster, stronger, and more skilled opponent where I do one thing and one thing only, focus both my physical senses and my chakra one on avenues of attack/defence. After a couple(or a lot) of beatings my battle awareness got to another level, I was able to dodge way better than most people I see, not because of my speed or flexibility, but due to my awareness, now that I got into that state of mind, all I need is for my physical abilities and Taijutsu/Kenjutsu proficiency to improve, and I'll be a menace on the battlefield.
