I like your story. I do feel like this chapter has a contradiction though. An earlier chapter talked about forecasts and traffic patterns in a way that made me think the real world was expecting a major storm, even if not as bad as what they will get. If he can point to that he can say that what does this big shot have to lose if he's wrong he can do a free ad. The big shot losing his trees is going to cost our hero some money.

Still feels like easy mode to me. That is the easiest time I've ever seen anyone picking up girls.

The black box surviving can only be expected. If the black box could be blown up by the base's self destruct mechanism you could only call that a design failure.

The sloppy editing here is really terrible.
