Yes they could, but would you have such thinking if he wasn’t the Mc and just another side character? Just pause for a moment and ponder that if you are a guild leader, would you parade around and shout those who refused to join me will get killed back to level 0? I doubt you will do it since it’s just bad publicity and you won’t get any players desiring to join you. Of course, there are exceptions and that’s if they seek short term profit and don’t care for the future.

Some people do that while some seek recognition and approval. It's different from case to case, and no one can really tell them what was right and what was wrong.

Some people are grateful and even cry in joy to have their kind of money, but they are just greedy and want more. Sad, but it's the hard cold truth that rich people are never satisfied with their wealth and only wanted more. (hence so many mergers and chaos when revolving around inheritance)
