This is good, but why do aliens not use zephyx to grow more powerful? If they were threatened by a couple rank 9 extractors, then the aliens don't use zephyx, do they? Otherwise, they'd have rank nines as well. Also, why does earth take the form it does? It seems like a systematic cloning of trillions of humans and constantly subjecting them to the nightmare would produce more zephyx than this. Why is society necessary at all? Maybe monotone suffering produces less zephyx than intermittent/varied suffering? Or maybe it isn't suffering that produces it so much as it is variance from a positive normality that produces it, which would require a normality to vary from?

The specter conceded because he thought he was guaranteed to die. He wasn't technically guaranteed to in either case, he was just convinced that Nick would carry it out. If Nick had started killing them both sooner, the specter would have been convinced if it sooner.

Not sure if that's accurate. If I'm remembering correctly, only when his synchronizer broke and he realized he would die did Nick change his approach and really start killing them both, convincing the specter that he really would kill them both. If he had done so from the beginning, I think that he could have convinced it earlier.

Nope. If Nick has managed to make the specter concede earlier, his core wouldn't have cracked and wouldn't have become a partial specter and then a complete specter.

You would be right, but I've already read all available chapters. They do use computers (as far as I can tell and remember). Zephyx is primarily used in materials engineering as far as I can remember and barriers use displays that I think are run by computers.
